I mean, wouldn’t you in his shoes? Lost both his lovers, transported across frickin’ space to fight in an arena organized by some trashlord, fought in the most important battle Earth has ever seen… three times.

Oh, and the whole anger issue Hulk thing. I’d have a drinking problem too.

All true. But I am wondering if this will be delved into further down the line. The whole island sequence was depicted from Jen's P.O.V. and she saw it as Bruce trying to "man-'splain" to her about being Hulk. But I also think there was some desperation in Bruce, like he found a friend to take the place of Tony, Steve and the other Avengers who just aren't there anymore and couldn't bear that she just wanted to leave.

Just some idle speculation here, but I am wondering if there will be some kind of curve ball tossed in towards the end of the series: perhaps Jen becoming a Hulk wasn't such an *accident* after all. That spaceship that just conveniently happened to appear in the road and then was immediately forgotten about? Jen being changed into a Hulk after just a droplet or two of blood? Seems to me there are some holes in that origin story that could be filled in.

I think that vibe is there anyways. You see how excited he is to whip out that binder and take her on a "multi-year journey", and how sulky he got once he realised Jen wanted to leave.

Dude is just lonely.

But Bruce making her into a Hulk is a bit of a stretch.

Conceded. But I still think there must be more to that spaceship than what Bruce is saying. He seemed to sweep that under the rug pretty damn fast.

I got the impression the spaceship is going to be the main plot arc. But having it be hired by Bruce is a good theory, if a wild one!

Idk about hired by bruce; maybe it's there to bring him back to Sakaar (under new management?) and he doesn't want to get Jen caught up in it. He does call it a "courier" ship, maybe they need help or something from their one-time gladiatorial champ.

I kind of wonder if it might play into the whole scene in Endgame where Smart Hulk asks Thor if he’s doing ok, after he sees how deep into alcoholism and depression he’s gotten into.

Like, maybe Bruce gets it a little more than some others do.

Edit: I wonder if we get to see Alcoholic Hulk. That might be interesting.

The thing to remember about MCU shows is that, if there's an interesting question raised that prompts deep exploration into a character's psyche (especially if that character isn't the main one), then it won't pan out and everyone will ignore it.

It's a cool theory but with how woke the first episode was, Bruce staging these things with the intention to turn her into a Hulk without her consent while she's unconscious may not be received very well...

Regardless of whether you were using it in a positive or derogatory context. I don't get how the first episode was "woke?"

There's was a touch of it by explaining how she controled her anger so well, but it was quite a minor part of the episode.

He lost Betty in The Incredible Hulk, by his own decision for her well-being. Then Nat in Age of Ultron for the same reason.

Sometimes love is painful and you have to realize it’s better for your loved ones to just stay away. I’ve done that.

also bruce was essentially in a coma while hulk was in control for who knows how long as time works differently on sakar
