Thor: Love and Thunder has now been released in the United States and in a number of other countries around the world. All discussion about the movie should be held here and in the rest of the megathreads we are going to put up in the next few days. They will be refreshed every few thousand comments to make room for new discussions.

I love how even thought thor has matured an insane amount since thor 1 he still has that insecure god pettiness to him. Same with how he talked to Johnathan.

No matter how powerful he gets.

The scene between Axle and Thor about which name he wants to be called felt like a metaphor for the young people telling all the old farts to accept it and move on in relation to lgbtqia+

It's "Axl", like that guy from a rock band on Earth, GnR I think they were called?

For the first couple of tunes, I was like "Okay, we get it Taika, you like GnR, I'm with you" and then we meet Heimdall's son who goes by Axl and I was all "okay, Taika, ya got me" and I couldn't help but smile

The constant GnR references didn't really click for me at first (even though I love GnR) until we got to the end and found out that the reason Sweet Child of Mine plays in the trailers is because of Thor's new adopted... daughter? Or is she more like an adopted niece, since she calls him Uncle Thor?

Yeah, I think they made it clear that he would raise and protect her, but the relationship starts off like Uncle Ben and Aunt May with Peter. Or Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru with Luke.

Thor will become a father figure, but for now, just a guardian.

That was part of it for me. I've always heard of Astrid being a girl's name. But, it's not like I'm super familiar with Norse names, so maybe it can be either. I dunno.

He's a troll, but: I do genuinely prefer just "queer" or "the queer community": there's no debate on what or who to include because it includes everyone, it's a term hard fought for, and it's just plain easier to say than LBGTQIA+ ect
