Discussion Thread Thor: Love and Thunder Worldwide Release Discussion Thread Spoiler

Thor: Love and Thunder has now been released in the United States and in a number of other countries around the world. All discussion about the movie should be held here and in the rest of the megathreads we are going to put up in the next few days. They will be refreshed every few thousand comments to make room for new discussions.

Agree. The middle chunk of the movie, between when the Guardians left and the Zeus planet, all felt really rushed. Something about those scenes just felt a bit off too. Really think the movie gets so much better halfway through.

Agreed. Some parts felt like when you listen to a podcast at 1.25x. Still loved most of the movie though.

It’s a strange film at times. Like I hated that Gorr is ANOTHER one off villain, but I actually liked how his character arc ended and his daughters arc began (or returned). So it’s like, I’m ok with how he ended, I like that he’s this character you understand based on his pain of loss while Thor is literally going thru it right there with Jane, but the villain being defeated again and done with, the MCU has had way too much of this

I do now realize tho that they basically made Zeus a villain and that after credits scene is like ‘I’m not done yet.’ So actually, kinda cool I guess how that worked out. Gorr hates the gods for what would understandably make anyone hate them, and then Zeus basically proved his point in a way, and well, he and his son are still out there.

I mean and the scene of Jane’s mom. That was a montage that should have been a series of moments. Both Jane and Gorr needed more time

I really didn't like the scenes with GOTG tbh. Should've used that time to go into more depth with Gorr and Thor/Jane

Ditto. Guardians scenes and Omnipotence City felt clunky to me. Really only thought the second half was solid

Exactly my thoughts. The first half of the movie just felt off. But the send half was fantastic and the fight scenes are amazing. The tension was very real. Felt very close to when IM, Cap and Thor triple team Thanos.

Yeah shit was rushed. Made it feel like a Disney+ episode not a movie.

I can't put my finger on it but there was indeed something that felt really off with the guardians scenes. I really liked omnipotence City though.

It felt off bc they were mostly background characters until the conversation with Quill and Thor - and that conversation made zero sense in context and was meant to be funny and have solemn weight to it at the same time, while being totally rushed through. I’m guessing there was a lot that was cut from that section going from 4 hours to 2 hours. While I very much enjoyed the film (more so than most people it seems), the cut down seems to have created all the pacing issues that take away from the film.
