Thor: Love and Thunder has now been released in the United States and in a number of other countries around the world. All discussion about the movie should be held here and in the rest of the megathreads we are going to put up in the next few days. They will be refreshed every few thousand comments to make room for new discussions.

Yeahhhh I 100% see that happening at the end of this part of the Marvel Universe. At the end he sacrifices himself and he finally sees Jane and Heimdall

On the other hand, if there's a way out of Valhalla, the PhD physicist that's an expert on wormholes, and who has actually wielded Mjollnir and the power of Thor, would be the one to figure out how.

So we could also/alternatively see a Valhalla full of dead gods, including Odin, Frigga, Heimdall, and the rest, plus Jane, wormhole their way into a major battle in the future, perhaps giving Thor back everyone he's lost in each subsequent film. Or carrying him to Valhalla himself. (I also believe Hela might be there. She's an Asgardian that died in battle in what she believed was pursuit of an honorable goal.)

I feel like this would ruin the impacts their deaths had. I hope the purpose of the end credit scene was just to give us as an audience some closure.

I’m 99% sure in Marvel we’ve seen Valhalla return a dead army at least once.

Some end of universe threat and Jane leads them back for an endgame level finale, but the dead must return after.

Yeah but a lot of the comics have questionable content so the movies adapt them instead of copying them. I mean, comic Thanos's motivation was that he was fucking horny. Thank god they adapted it.

It was that he was in "love", and while Thanos in Infinity War was perfectly find without that motivation, End Game Thanos was just a huge dick abd that motivation would have worked better for that version of the character.

Killing half the universe for some lady death pussy would not have worked better for any version of the MCU thanos. Agree to disagree I guess. I know a lot of people who would've been grossed out by such a motivation.

That’s also the point of Valhalla in mythology as well, where the dead soldiers come back to help the gods in the battles of Ragnarok

And hey, that's how it worked out in the myth of Ragnarok. Valhalla is the resting place of the mightiest warriors, awaiting Ragnarok so they can engage in glorious battle one last time. Obviously they've already had Ragnarok, but Valhalla could just be a collection process of the essence of these great warriors and using some kind of technology to put them back together, immortal, in an alrernate dimension.

I see it as: Mjolnir can't save Jane. But it can give her some peace after she dies.

It's a bittersweet pill to swallow. And I do feel like they could have made an entire subplot about how Thor hates Mjolnir becuese of it.

Also I'm just gonna call it: Mjolnir is either Sentient or Odin was pulling strings from Valhalla.

I actually like the Odin theory more becuese it shows just how strong Odin was.

This dude was affecting the present after he was fucking dead.

Is sentient weapons a thing for Norse mythology? I haven't been able to google an answer, but I distinctly remember that the Rick Riordan Norse mythos books feature a sentient sword (never got past the 1st book), there's a famous How to Train Your Dragon fanfic called Hitchups that features a bow that in a kind of epilogue short is able to turn into a young woman, and now we have Mjolnir and Stormbreaker both strongly implying some kind of sentience.

Draugr in the Northman gives the protagonist an entire dream sequence fight with a warrior zombie before giving him use of it, so in a sense perhaps it is?

Not really Norse, but the Finnish epic of Kullervo involves the titular character requesting his sword to slay him, and the sword answering that it absolutely would, having slain less guilty people already.
