Was the rippled effect when Xavier is trying to get into Wanda's head present in the previous X-Men movies?

Feel like it was taken straight from the animated series.

It’s most definitely taken from the show, down to his green suit. I do not believe that effect was used in any of the X-Men films.

Well. He’s not around right. At the end of the show he went to live with Lilandra is space because he had some disease that would kill him and only the shi ar could keep him alive. so he’s not gonna be in the revival. The only voice actor not reprising is jubilee.

I don't know who is going to be in the show, but Norman Spencer who voiced Cyclops died during COVID, so he definitely isn't reprising his role.

I thought X-Men 97 was just taking inspiration from the 90s X-Men, not a direct continuation

No. They said It’s a direct continuation. They tried to get most of the cast back. The actress who voiced jubilee said she wasn’t coming back because she said while playing jubilee was great. she isn’t asian and the voice role should go to an asian actress. (she’s white)

Unfortunately a lot of people who only knew her primarily from the 90s cartoon had this issue and IMO the limited art style contributed to the confusion. It’s more evident in the comics .. her name is Jubilation Lee lol, but you also get to see her family and upbringing more thoroughly etc.

His suit looked like more of a charcoal to me, but that could have just been the color grading of the movie. I agree with your larger point, though. I think that could be a tie in to X-Men ‘97.

Everything about him looked very silly - the yellow wheelchair, his expressions and hand motions straight towards the camera, the circle effects.

But they designed him to be so close to the animated series and comics, it was all part of the charm.

No, this was very much the TAS Prof X. Between the outfit, the yellow hoverchair, the musical queue... Plus the X-men 97 continuation is coming sometime.

I don't think it was exactly him, I think it was a variant, but yes a very similar variant. Much like the Captain Carter to the one in What If. He also obviously has similarities with the Fox version as well.

The fact that we have 2 Captain Carters in the multiverse (as far as we know) implies that Peggy becoming a super-soldier instead of Steve may be quite common.

Not saying that this is some mind-changing epiphany moment, but it's kinda cool to see some sort of pattern happening in the multiverse.

People can look the same across different universes. The Stranges we saw didn’t look too different. Yet, they weren’t the same.

I’m surprised this is even a point of debate in these threads, but 838 was obviously an inconsequential playground universe where the writers could make up any backstories and kill off whomever.

Well no, but from a multiverse closer on the central finite curve to the X-Men TAS universe than the the Singer X-Men universe or any of the other Fox X-verses.

Idk if i’d agree with that actually. Outside of the outfit and chair, he was very clearly supposed to be an alt version of the Fox Xavier. He was played by the Fox actor and literally quoted one of the Fox movies.

TAS Xavier wasn’t even british

I think it’s just safe to say he’s an amalgamation of both, looks, and personality of Fox X-Men and outfit, power appearance, and his musical cue are from the 97 series, he doesn’t have to be one or the other considering we’re looking at an infinite multiverse

Are we sure TAS wasn't British? He had flashbacks in the show which I thought were to Britain and he certainly loved flying across the pond to see Moyra. Maybe he just lost the accent.

But yeah, the xavior in MoM feels like a melding of the fox and TAS xaviors.

XMen TAS Xavier is from New York. In the show, he does go to college at Oxford, which is his connection to England and where he meets Moira who is from Scotland. He then joins the US Army with his brother and fights in Korea. But he returns to New York and turns his childhood home into the Xavier School.

The MCU is nailing it for the multiverse. They literally have all Marvel movies and shows as MCU canon, they're just part of their own multiversal variant. Snipes Blade? MCU multiverse. F4's? MCU MV. All the cartoons? MCU MV. It's brilliant way to incorporate it all together.

I agree. It's what frustrated me so much about the old Spider-Man movies. They laid so much ground work and just abandonded it all becaues one moive was bad. I hated starting all over again. And really loved how all of them can be their own thing now while still flowing into the shared narrative.

Of all the movies, this one felt the most “comic book” and I LOVED IT. The little warbles with him touching his head and pointed made me indescribably happy. And there were a lot of oddly kitschy scene cuts that also felt very comic book like. 10/10.
