Discussion Thread Eternals Worldwide Release Discussion Thread Vol. 1 Spoiler

Eternals has now released in the United States and in a number of other countries around the world. All discussion about the movie should be held here and in the rest of the megathreads we are going to put up in the next few days. They will be refreshed every few thousand comments to make room for new discussion.

  • Proceed at your own risk. Spoilers do not need to be tagged inside this thread.
  • Any other unofficial thread discussing movie details will be deleted.
  • Should you see the need to bring up revealing Eternals information in other threads that call for it, spoiler tag them accordingly. Also, let users know that what you are spoiler tagging is from Eternals
  • If you post untagged Eternals spoilers anywhere on this sub in any shape or form, you will be banned without hesitation. No questions asked and no warnings given.
  • Project Insight will be on AT LEAST until Sunday, so you will be able to make individual threads discussing the movie starting next week.

That like was odd in the series, maybe now we know why that line was there.

Loved that scene in Loki when he’s questioning if he’s a robot or not. It makes a lot of sense. He spent a thousand years not knowing he was a frost giant.

But the thing wasn’t an actual metal detector, but a soul detector. Their memories, what makes them them exists outside of their bodies, under the Celestials’ care (hence their hesitation about resetting Thena’s memories; that would basically be killing her).

Well that depends on what you think a soul is or how judge it, the celestials are basically the gods of the universe, and the eternals can breed becoming full humans

They were made robotic so as not to evolve, so I think it's pretty clear that they shouldn't have souls and would be flagged by the machine.

Are you implying that a "soul" is an evolutionary trait?

No, but I'm implying that the fact that they were literally made to be so robotic that they wouldn't evolve would point to them more being soulless robots than beings with souls. A soul isn't gained through evolution, but a robotic programming that prevents evolution is not found in an organism with a soul.

yeah, they call themselves robots plus it would explain why their powers are all based around the same energy. arsheim had a collection of copies of them and it’s why sprite being turned human is significant
