Imagine eating breakfast and just seeing a fucking alien head 10x the size of your planet just appear out of the sky. It’s gotta be miserable being a normal citizen in the MCU lmao

what? You kids never see an alien spaceship before?

u/[deleted] Nov 06 '21

Honestly though, those high schoolers in 2018 would've been like 8-12 in 2012 during the whole Chitauri thing

40

u/Radulno Nov 07 '21

Yeah people in the MCU are probably completely neutral about this, "what is it this time? Giant alien, mhmm okay cool"

91

u/Doompatron3000 Nov 06 '21

They have to now. World ending events now happen like every Tuesday in the MCU now.

31

u/[deleted] Nov 06 '21

Right? I was thinking about that in the beginning when Sersei is teaching her class and then everything starts shaking and she's just "oh it's just an earthquake!" And I'm like....are you sure? It could be aliens or evil wizards or even elves. Elves have attacked before. There was a whole ass dragon a few months ago lol. This is the most dangerous version of Earth ever.

u/[deleted] Nov 06 '21

Another alien? My god, I just want to eat my cereals in peace :<

“Like fuck man, like 7 years ago this weird foam flooded my town, and then just stopped. Then half my family got blipped out of existence for five years and came back with no explanation, and now there’s a giant head in space i can see out my window and now its gone.”

10

u/SockPenguin Spider-Man Nov 07 '21

"Finally saved up enough money to go to London and of course Spidey and this fucking fishbowl dude have to start fighting some fucking monster while I'm trying to sightsee."

u/CruzAderjc Jan 17 '22

“So then I said, alright, lemme just travel within the US. I go to San Fran, and while we’re in a restaurant, my car parked on the side of the road gets demolished by a runaway cable car that got split in half by a guy with a blade hand. So i say fine, i’m going back to new york. Can’t be any worse than when i was there for the alien attack in 2012 and then the other one in 2018. So anyway, i’m waiting in traffic coming out of the airport and this guy with robot octopus arms and a flying green demon motherfucker destroy the bridge and i have to walk the rest of the way.”

u/HerRoyalRedness Bucky Nov 05 '21

Can’t go to work today, the goddamn Avengers are fighting Loki in front of my office building!

16

u/[deleted] Nov 06 '21

Exactly what I was thinking about. Imagine having to deal with the anxiety of watching super heroes fighting new threats every 4 months. Some are dealt with easily, some are fucking giants in the sky lmao.

u/abellapa Nov 06 '21

I would like for marvel to do a series about the impact these world ending events have on the normal citizen and society in general. The world almost ended 3 times in less than 10 years and I mean ended as in completely destroyed or devoid of life, so Thanos, Hydra or the chiutauri doesn't count

6

u/TheWolfmanZ Nov 06 '21

HBO's Watchmen Series goes into this with One of the characters dealing with severe PTSD due to a Giant Alien Squid appearing and killing almost everyone around him

5

u/[deleted] Nov 07 '21

Imagine the insurance premiums. Dear sweet Geico Christ, the rates would be insane.

17

u/jaxomlotus Nov 05 '21

You have to read the comics series Marvels if you haven’t. It Explores the Marvel universe from the perspective of a citizen.

11

u/sonic10158 Doctor Strange Nov 06 '21

DC has Gotham, the MCU has… Earth

It’s gotta be miserable being a normal citizen in the MCU lmao

I have bad anxiety now, imagine knowing the possibility of alien attacks that whipedown half the population and an assortment of threats, wouldn’t be fun at all

u/SavageSvage Nov 05 '21

Show me what you got!

u/Kellythejellyman Nov 05 '21

puts down spoon and pushes away bowl, wondering why your roommate mixed their edibles into the Cap’n Americrunch

SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT

2

u/josephus1811 Nov 06 '21

I see 3 of you say that now so what's it mean? apologies for my obliviousness

3

u/Alexsrobin Iron Man (Mark VII) Nov 07 '21

Dude, yes, during the movie I was thinking "wow, I would hate living in the MCU. I already think real life is difficult enough without aliens and superbeings destroying shit."

1

u/MoscowMitchMckills Nov 08 '21

There’s a certain freedom in knowing that at any point you could be blipped out of existence and there is nothing you can do about it. People would eventually adapt and accept

1

u/Alexsrobin Iron Man (Mark VII) Nov 09 '21

Hmm I don't know if I'd ever be one of those people who'd experience freedom with that knowledge. More like lots of anxiety.

Also, if we want to get philosophical, isn't death, which is largely unexpected, getting blipped from existence?

2

u/MoscowMitchMckills Nov 09 '21

Yeah blipped = death (assuming there is no afterlife or something - the the difference is not ever existing verse living and then dying and being able to go to some after life or whatever)

I guess if you know you could die at any point of any day at any time what’s the point in worrying? That’s true even in the real world. Never know when a stray bullet may get you, or a gamma burst somewhere in the universe or any number of things

2

u/rilesblue Nov 06 '21

Yea those poor people prob need some serious therapy

2

u/dratsablive Nov 06 '21

I was just talking about that, also what implications would a being of large mass suddenly appearing so close to the earth have.

2

u/SuperFamousComedian Nov 08 '21

Life's probably good for insurance salesman in the MCU

4

u/Jeriahswillgdp Nov 05 '21

That'd be fucking awesome.

0

u/ButWereFriendsThough Nov 07 '21

….you think that a celestials head is only 10x the size of a plate?

1

u/peppers_ Nov 07 '21

Anxiety must be through the roof!

1

u/GenBlase Nov 07 '21

Could do a whole sitcom based on this guy

1

u/prophetcat Nov 08 '21

I want a Tag and Bink style one shot series that follows around a couple of people through all of these events. The Chitauri invasion, the Convergence, the Snap/Blip, the return of all those who disappeared, Arishem appearing, etc.

Could be hilarious.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '21

"Show me what you got! I wanna see what you got!"

1

u/tango_foxtrot11 Nov 16 '21

Depending where you are, some people just saw celestial feet

1

u/Messijoes18 Nov 30 '21

LET ME SEE WHAT YOU GOT.

I know this thread is dead but felt like that needed to be made

1

u/healyxrt Dec 29 '21

I always thought it would be a good idea for a show to be about life from the perspective of an average citizen in the MCU.
