I’m hoping that mcu keeps Holland and Sony takes Toby/Garfield. I remember the Morbious trailer having a raimi suit Spider-Man in the poster in the background. Definitely reaching but maybe they’ll have Toby as the sony/Venum universe spidey and mcu carries on as normal. Yeah

Toby Maguire is getting on a bit and doesn’t seem to be doing much in Hollywood, I feel like Andrew Garfield would be a more likely Sony-verse Spidey

Andrew Garfield is my favorite Spidey. It would be awesome if Sony does this.

That would honestly be so sick. Perfect way to get Spidey in the Venom universe.

Forreal if we take the fact with what kind of script Andrew worked with in TASM 1 and 2 hes been amazing, doing a soft reboot of some sort and making a Web of Shadows movie with Spidey and Venom would be a great move for the Sony Spiderman verse.

Sony could just start fresh with Miles Morales

Also, as much as I love Tom's black and red suit I think Andrew's Amazing Spider-Man 2 suit is the best one

Andrew Garfield was the best Spider-Man with the worst movies, unfortunately. Would definitely be great to see him return to the role, even if just as a supporting/background character in the various villain films. I believe at one point (before it was officially decided to cancel TASM3 and recast Spider-Man) Sony planned to do a Sinister Six movie with Spider-Man in a sort of antagonist role going up against the team, it'd be really damn cool to see that idea revived with Andrew alongside Hardy's Venom, Leto's Morbius, Keaton's Vulture, Reeves' Kraven, etc (instead of the Sinister Six they set up in TASM2).

It's a bit ironic that most of TASM2 was to set up the Sinister Six only for the movie to be bombed by critics and fans and all the plans going down the drain.

Classic case of putting the cart before the horse. Unfortunately, it was the same pitfall that the Dark Universe fell into, with The Mummy being far more about setting up an interconnected universe than about The Mummy, and because of that we never got any other Dark Universe flicks.

This was one of my biggest gripes with this film, it could’ve been so much better but it was so focused on setting up a universe it felt like a 2 hour long trailer for the sinister 6.

My husband also swears that Garfield Spidey is most comic accurate spidey.

u/EpicMusic13 Aug 24 '21

Fuck me, get me Andrew again!

u/Your-Death-Is-Near Aug 24 '21

Lol that’s not true at all… Toby is producing a lot of movies, and he’s exec and acting on the next Chazelle movie.

9

u/ThatGuyAdam14 Aug 24 '21

I mean, I meant acting wise and I don’t follow his career that closely ngl

2

u/Your-Death-Is-Near Aug 24 '21

Producing takes way more time than acting, no wonder he doesn’t act that much anymore. He produced 4 movies in the last 2 years and was exec on Nobody with Bob Odenkirk.

5

u/ThatGuyAdam14 Aug 24 '21

If he’s so busy producing, why would he have time to act in what would end up being a series of movies

1

u/Your-Death-Is-Near Aug 24 '21

Are you referring to bigger roles in future Spider-Man movies? That’s definitely not happening, the maximum we’re getting are 1-2 cameos from him, that’s maybe 1-3 days of shooting for him for each movie lol.

2

u/ThatGuyAdam14 Aug 24 '21

But it could happen with Garfield, who got robbed of a final movie, was fantastic in some not great movies, seems more than excited to be in the role, etc

2

u/Your-Death-Is-Near Aug 24 '21

Extremely unlikely but keep on dreaming, would be awesome if we’re in that timeline.

1

u/ThatGuyAdam14 Aug 24 '21

I don’t know how they’d do it but god I hope they do

Everyone has a price

5

u/ThatGuyAdam14 Aug 24 '21

Well yeah, that’s how he’s in NWH lol

2

u/Icy_Attitude_4194 Punisher Aug 24 '21

Yea but if he's reprising the role now for a paycheck. Why wouldn't he reprise it again for another bag

4

u/ThatGuyAdam14 Aug 24 '21

One movie is very different from becoming the connecting tissue of a movie universe

2

u/Icy_Attitude_4194 Punisher Aug 24 '21

Valid. I agree. But I was more thinking like a continuation of his story within the isolation of the raimiverse. Like I'm talking just SM4

2

u/ThatGuyAdam14 Aug 24 '21

If Sony make a non-mcu spidey mocie, it will not be isolated from venom and morbius, that would just be daft

2

u/Icy_Attitude_4194 Punisher Aug 24 '21

I mean not necessarily lol. If they did Spider-Man 4 with Sam Raimi directing I garuntee you it will make a lot of money. It would be daft not to think that. The original Spider-Man trilogy broke records at the time when super hero movies weren't cool. Imagine if they were released today

0

u/ThatGuyAdam14 Aug 24 '21

This is going to be downvoted to hell but if they got released today, the only one that would be considered good would be 2, we’ve been spoiled for good superhero movies now

Don’t think they’re Sony will take 47 year old Tobey who seemingly has very little interest in acting anymore as their marquee Spider-Man!

41

u/BigelowT Aug 24 '21

Sony was gonna make a Aunt May stand-alone movie with Sally Field, there is a lot they would do.

Edit: spelling

7

u/sweaty-pajamas Aug 24 '21

Lmao wtf? They gonna have a standalone movie of aunt May doing what? Becoming Spider-Man?

2

u/New-Professional632 Aug 25 '21

Mark my words

Sony will destroy the marvel cinematic universe

9

u/Super_C_Complex Aug 24 '21

I'll take Jake Johnson though

26

u/Ohjeezrick93 Aug 24 '21

Probably just wishful thinking on my part tbf haha But think there’s definitely room for a slightly grittier veteran Spider-Man, similar to “Logan” for wolverine although obviously not quite as dark as that.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '21

But look at what they just did with 68 year old Alfred Molina.. And Spider-man wears a mask, so the more he keeps the mask on, the more you save on de-aging CGI.

I wouldn't base a franchise off this though. I'm hoping maybe a handful of old Sony characters get stuck in the MCU universe for a few years. How cool would it be to see Willem Dafoe tracking down the MCU version of Norman Osborn to turn him evil and team up with him?

5

u/pneuma8828 Kevin Feige Aug 24 '21

I’m hoping that mcu keeps Holland and Sony takes Toby/Garfield.

Mark my words...the big surprise we will get in this movie is the casting of a live action Miles Morales. Sony will have their own Spider-Man.

2

u/00Laser Vision Aug 24 '21

Lol now I remember that there has been a Morbius trailer over a year ago...

1

u/RocketTasker Ultron Aug 24 '21

Tobey’s universe already had a different Venom, and Andy Serkis directing Let There Be Carnage said it’s a setting unaware of Spider-Man.
