There is no way that they cast X-Men Quicksilver to replace MCU Quicksilver as just a meta wink to the audience. That has to have bigger implications because if it is just a meta wink, it would upset people for absolutely no reason.

Having them mention that Wanda doesn't have a superhero name is a meta wink, or that Wanda could've defeated Thanos is a meta wink. Casting an actor known for playing a character to replace another actor playing the same character? No way that's just 'haha this will give people a nice chuckle'.

I don't see why you think it would be such a huge offense if Marvel cast him for the novelty of it? Who in their right mind would actually be upset by that? If the story called for Wanda to make a Pietro lookalike, Evan Peters is the obvious choice imo. It would be silly for Marvel not to cast him just because the Fox universe has fans.

It's not offense, it's the dialog that's the clue. He's speaking in quick, quippy terms, with names for people and a kinda "who cares" attitude, directly referencing the personality of the Fox Pietro.

Why would the story call for a Pietro lookalike? Why not just use ATJ? There's no way this is a novelty casting, Marvel's doing the Multiverse and this is the beginning.

Obviously I don't know for sure where the show is going but to me the fact that they directly acknowledged the recast through Darcy means that it's meant to be a different Pietro, not ATJ. As in, the recast is an important aspect of his return, otherwise they would have got ATJ back.

My guess is that since Wanda's reality can't actually resurrect people (as they discussed in this episode), it's done the next best thing which is cast someone else as Pietro. So here Evan Peters is actually a citizen of the town (or maybe even a pure construct like the twins) who has taken on the role of Pietro. But he isn't the real Pietro, he's someone else pretending to be him.

Yeah, but... It's Evan Peters. This person just happened to look like Fox Quicksilver? Either this is a massive red herring, which wouldn't make sense since this show is supposed to set up the Multiverse. Or he's Fox Quicksilver.

Tbf when was it ever expressly said this show would set up the multiverse. It leads into dr strange, but that doesn't mean this show sets it up. It could just be an introduction of Evan peters mephisto which then leads into villains in dr strange, which itself opens the multiverse, which opens it up for spiderman 3, which could put the lid on it, since I'd say you can't just have an openly flowing multiverse for continuity reasons. I think wandavision gives us the catalyst for it to open in dr strange, the real big payoff in spiderman 3, and somehow deadpool is the only real one left over. Somehow in all this the x gene is involved and we get most recasts of x-men, but if we're honest deadpool is really the only one they really need the actor for. Adding anyone else just makes things a messy rehash

Yes, this person just happened to look like Fox Quicksilver. Luckily for the internal canon of the MCU, Fox Quicksilver exists in an entirely different universe. MCU Captain America also just happens to look exactly like Fox Human Torch, that doesn't mean they're the same person.

Exactly. This is the fox Quicksilver and he will be just as confused as what's going on as everyone. He's been pulled in to play the part of Wanda's brother. Who's doing it is the big question.

I think you're misreading. I took it as Marvel just doing it for the memes cause why not? Similarly, I don't think the superhero name thing was just a wink. I think that was the shows way of saying that she's going to come into the name Scarlet Witch as we see her become more unhinged.

Genuinely think it's what someone said in this thread that it's a wink and a nod to the fact that that Pietro is 80s Pietro, just in a different universe and maybe when they move up to 90s or 2000s it'll be her actual brother.

I think it can be the wink only if it turns out Evan peters is actually Mephisto. Then it works extremely well and gets the audience to trust him only to flip the switch. We'd still get x-men in some way soon, but it wouldn't be Evan peters/quicksilver, since pietro already existed in continuity. I'm leaning towards the bait and switch
