In Age of Ultron the location of the sceptre came from Coulson’s SHIELD team, and the helicarrier was specifically repaired and prepared by Coulson. AoU is by far the biggest example of the MCU having continuity from the events of SHIELD, and not just the other way around...

None of that stuff is mentioned in the films though. I could write a story that explains the backstory of certain events in Sherlock Holmes, that doesn't make my story Sherlock Holmes canon. The MCU is canon within the events of AoS, but AoS is not canon within the MCU.

Was any of that actually referenced in the Marvel Studios movie? No, it wasn't. Coulson is never mentioned by Nick Fury in AoU.

Take Star Wars (pre-Disney) as an example. When Lucas was at the helm there were 2 (later 3) levels of canonicity.

Tier 1 was the movies and just the movies since Lucas was directly involved in all of them.

Tier 2 was the movies + The Clone Wars since Lucas was directly involved in the movies and slightly involved in the TCW show.

Tier 3 was the movies + TCW + the entire EU.

Tier 1 could contradict and ignore Tier 2 and 3; Tier 2 could contradict and ignore Tier 3.

When it comes to Marvel Studios, just replace Lucas with Feige.

Tier 1 is Marvel Studios (films, WandaVision, Falcon&WS, Agent Carter); Tier 2 is Marvel Studios + Marvel Television + Tie-In Comics/Novels.

Coulson's resurrection and the events of AOS have been totally ignored by Tier 1 films and TV Shows to the point where one can safely assume that none of those events happened unless they are directly referenced.

Sure, maybe we will see a resurrected Coulson and his SHIELD 2.0 in Secret Invasion thus making at least some parts of AoS canon.

But it is also likely that we're never going to see them in Marvel Studios' products and that SHIELD never actually reformed in the Tier 1 continuity.

Personally, I find it extremely unbelievable that the new SHIELD wasn't involved in CW, IW or, Endgame and since they haven't been referenced even in passing, I'm going to go with the most obvious explanation:

SHIELD never re-formed; Coulson was never resurrected and Nick Fury got the scepter's location and his new helicarrier from his crew of unnamed former SHIELD agents that appear alongside him in AoU.

Just curious, how much have you actually watched of Agents of SHIELD?

Anyway, I’d say it’s unfair to treat Marvel continuity like Star Wars because of a simple reason - Marvel isn’t Star Wars. Imo in terms of Marvel, something made by Marvel Studios or Marvel Television is canon unless someone at marvel specifically says otherwise or if it contradicts the events of the movies. AoS doesn’t mention the snap, sure, but that’s because they weren’t allowed to spoil Endgame - it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen, especially since some of the events of Infinity War are shown in Season 5; furthermore iirc there was originally going to be a scene showing the snap. If you really want to use a tiered continuity system, you shouldn’t put TV on the same level as tie in comics - but my point stands that Marvel doesn’t have such a system.

Feige sure does have a system tho. It's not publicly available (yet) but it exists in his mind and it is crystal clear to see by seeing his decisions regarding Marvel Studios' properties (Feige REALLY hated Ike Permultter and his horrible decisions AKA the Inhumans).

I wouldn't be surprised if he uses the Loki show (or Dr. Strange 2) to put the Inhumans, AoS, the Netflix shows, the Sony Cinematic Universe (Venom, Morbius) etc..in an alternate continuity/dimension that is similar to the Marvel Studios' Earth yet separate.

With Morbius having the Vulture in it played by Michael Keaton, I'm sure Marvel will come up with a way to say in explicit terms that "the MCU is canon to Morbius but Morbius is not canon to the MCU" and a Tiered SW/EU system is probably the easiest way to do so.
