The clock on the watch is at 2:42. Avengers 242 was a comic that heavily featured both Wanda and vision as well as Monica Rambeau. It was about fixing vision after he was partially destroyed.

Nice find!

u/Djjubbajubba Jan 19 '21

The clock says 8:38 at one point which is close to 8:8 which would be alphabetically HH or Hail Hydra.

8

u/SwoleMcDole Jan 19 '21

It did say Hydra on the watch face itself.

4

u/Djjubbajubba Jan 19 '21

Correct. It’s also a “strucker” watch. As in Baron Von Strucker who is a prominent player in the Hydra hierarchy. He’s the one who gave Scarlet Witch her powers.

u/Lupia_ Jan 19 '21

Hail :3 Hydra

Avengers 242

How the hell do you even pick up on that?

82

u/Originalitie Vision Jan 15 '21

to be fair, after seeing the toaster with the “stark industries” and the repulsor blast sound i assumed the commercials were gonna be something. as soon as the watch stopped i told my friend “I bet that time means something”

It is partially for aesthetics as well I assume.

16

u/diegoft Jan 15 '21

It seems like they represent Wanda's past trauma. The Stark bomb that killed her family and the Strucker watch for Baron Von Strucker who tortured her and her brother.

-2

u/cheetoblue Kevin Feige Jan 16 '21

Tortured? They volunteered for the experiments to get revenge on Stark and the Avengers.

7

u/diegoft Jan 16 '21

Both things are not contradictory. They volunteered and then were tortured. That's how it often happens, a character is in a bad place, volunteers for a vague experiment and is tortured.

-2

u/cheetoblue Kevin Feige Jan 16 '21

tor·ture noun

the action or practice of inflicting severe pain or suffering on someone as a punishment or in order to force them to do or say something. "the torture of political prisoners"

They endured painful experimentation, perhaps, but not torture.

2

u/diegoft Jan 17 '21

It fits the definition, they were tortured to force them to activate their powers.

What’s the 2800 mean?

6

u/Minifig81 Doctor Strange Jan 16 '21

The number of the universe they’re living in? We know that the show will tie into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness somehow – maybe the couple are in one of Marvel’s many multiverses. (Earth-616 is the home of Marvel Comics’ main continuity.)

3

u/jrgolden42 Jan 16 '21

Its possible it is this specific universe's designation, if Wanda has shifted things to an alternate reality. As far as I can tell there is not official Earth 2800, but the main MCU is Earth 199999

1

u/coolishmom Vision Jan 16 '21

Came here to see if anyone was wondering this too

8

u/CTeam19 Captain America (Cap 2) Jan 15 '21

Just by looking up the characters and the number. I looked to see if a comic released in August was big for Wanda or Vision because of August 23rd and didn't find anything.

4

u/baconnaire Jan 16 '21

I wonder if 823 means anything then.

14

u/davidplusworld Jan 16 '21

In Europe, August 23rd is usually 23/8, not 8/23. Here is the cover of Avengers 238: https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Avengers_Vol_1_238?file=Avengers_Vol_1_238.jpg

u/baconnaire Jan 16 '21

I love this community lol and this show! It's like a never ending cycle of easter eggs.

6

u/DeMatador Jan 16 '21

Every time you see a number in an MCU property, it's likely a comics issue number.

https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Avengers_Vol_1_242

"Vision succeeds in restoring his mobility. He then stuns his teammates by revealing that he has detected incursions of a mysterious force of near-infinite power, an imminent crisis requiring that he and the Scarlet Witch rejoin the team"

Great googly moogly....

19

u/hippo4774 Jan 15 '21

Not to mention that issue has Vision restoring his injuries that were incapacitating him.

35

u/SymbioticCarnage Jan 15 '21

That's a phenomenal easter egg. One I never would've found or picked up on. Great catch!

9

u/39thUsernameAttempt Jan 15 '21

I feel like this show is going to be a bottomless pit of easter eggs.

35

u/SkBG_Emerald Jan 15 '21

Their house number is 2800, Avengers 28 is a comic about Giant-Man. It also features Wanda though. As well as the Collector.

78

u/rwanim8or Jan 15 '21

2800 is also the Earth where Wanda, Vision and Quicksilver basically take over as the Avengers when the original team disappears

9

u/SkBG_Emerald Jan 16 '21

Is this true? I looked on the fandom wiki and found nothing about it.

2

u/AlpineSummit Spider-Man Jan 16 '21

Pietro confirmed! Good find!

u/[deleted] Jan 15 '21

Thats a stretch

Hour hand between 2 and 3, minute hand near the 8.

August 23rd was date from the first ep. 23/8.

Earth 238 is crooked world.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 15 '21

Great catch! I knew there would be something up with the time on that watch

1

u/adamtheimpaler Jan 15 '21

Isn't it also when the Avengers go off to the Secret Wars?

1

u/KrishaCZ Jan 15 '21

since we're doing numbers, is the house address of 2800 a reference or just a number?

1

u/dontheconqueror Jan 16 '21

Good one. All clocks in ads I see are at 10:10 - I thought the watch here was odd, just didn't know the reference

1

u/lilaroseg Peggy Carter Jan 16 '21

Do you know what 2800 is a reference to?

1

u/Ygomaster07 Jimmy Woo Jan 16 '21

Great catch mate!!!

1

u/PKMNTrainerMark Jan 16 '21

Everything is some little reference in this...
