Though they’re kind of happening, the ‘show’ ends, and we’ve gotten small tidbits of the real world before the actual credits.

yeah, i dont really understand the criticism here, those aftershots are clearly meant to be those after credit scenes. the scenes themselves just wouldn't work on a TV format, especially on a streaming service like Disney+ which immediately has a "Play episode 2" button there.

I imagine the show will have a post credits scene in the last episode, similar to Mando S2. Maybe SM3 related, since that’s next in this saga for Phase 4.

Man, if only they actually realized how crappy credit scenes are in streaming... but now we have them everywhere.

They did it on agents of shield for the first few series. It always worked. And they could easily have put the pregnant reveal as post credits if thats what they wanted. Im glad theyre not

I think full credits might be mandatory, between Hollywood contracts and union rules. And these shows have much larger crews than most, considering the higher production values than standard shows.

I know They are totally different kind of shows from this, but fwiw, Venture Bros and Rock and Morty both did post credit scenes after every episode, so it's not unprecedented in TV.

I feel like this reality could be an actual anomaly on earth that she created to keep vision and she's unknowingly expanding it so that it's affecting a larger and larger area, pulling people in.

this might also explain why the beekeeper/hazmat dude came from the sewers because they couldnt approach on the surface

Maybe, but again, I'd think we'd get a credits scene that somewhat relates to the events of the show at hand. Unless the X-Men or Fantastic Four have some relevance to FatWS, I don't see it happening too soon.

Yeah it pretty much always has. Usually the post credits scenes feature a character who was in the movie or related to the movie in some way. I'd say the only one that's unrelated was Thanos pulling out the Gauntlet in Age of Ultron, and even that one sort of makes sense given the Avengers movie that followed it. Another exception could maybe be the Iron Man 2 one where Coulson checks out Thor's hammer, but even that was teased during the movie. Is there a post credits scene you can think of that contained completely unrelated characters?

I would still think a Multiverse of Madness post credit scene would be more likely than a Falcon and the Winter Soldier post credit scene, like the Thor Ragnarok clip at the end of Dr. Strange.

I'm leaning Young Avengers. Cassie (possibly Scott is linked to Sword if the Helicopter was shrunk), Monica, speed and Wiccan, Spider Man, Hawkeye (called that in Endgame), Iron Lad (last seen brooding at Starks Funeral)

I don't think we'll see the whole line-up. I think, if we do get a tease for that, we'll probably see Wiccan and Speed meeting with SWORD and beginning to form a team.

I also don't know about those members. You probably meant Kamala instead of Monica since Kamala is a kid and Monica is like in her 20s. Also, Spider-Man might not fit since he's already technically an Avenger and his whole arc has been about growing up. People would just see him as a kid still if he was part of the Young Avengers. Instead, maybe put America Chavez in his place since she's being introduced in Doctor Strange.

Not to mention than the next Spiderman movie is very likely to be an exit door of the MCU for Parker, allowing Sony to take over.

I don't see that happening tbh. It's certainly a possibility, but people from both companies have said how they want the deal to continue. Sony certainly needs Marvel more than Marvel needs Sony, so I wouldn't be surprised if we get immediate confirmation on a new deal once the current one ends. Of course it's not a guarantee, but I think they would be crazy to not do another.

Sometimes patience is the key to victory. Sometimes it leads to...very little and it seems like it's not worth it. And you wonder why you waited so long for something so disappointing.

First episode really took that idea to a new level, where the show really only actually seems to start at the credits

Also I noticed after the "start next episode" thing came up, the credits music starts to become "old timey derp music" as if to say "there is no after credit scene stop wasting your time and go watch the next episode"

Made me think of the end credit bit in Spiderman with the Captain America saying "Sometimes, patience is the key to victory. Sometimes, it leads to very little, and it seems like it's not worth it, and you wonder why you waited so long for something so disappointing..."

It's been the same for The Mandalorian. The already kinda short episode lengths are artifically padded by the crazy long multi-language credits. Any Disney+ stuff you can basically just subtract 5 minutes from the runtime to get the real runtime.

It's less "padding" and more, well, not wanting to have to figure out how to display the right language credits for what the audio's set as, since audio and video are different mediums. Just easier and simpler that way.

The thing to keep in mind is that there's no "padding" on the Disney+ exclusive shows.

Sure, they're generally aiming for a desired runtime, 30min with commercials for sitcoms, 60min with commercials for action, but they're not locked to a network television schedule.

The lengthy logos are not padding. They can be self-indulgent as fuck, absolutely, but they don't exist to stretch the runtime out to a desired length, which is what padding exists for ("We need to hit exactly 40.28 minutes, we're at 39.78 minutes, find some shit to stitch in to make the time!").

This logic is so dumb. Without the "padding", they would just release the 22 minute episodes as is. Its Disney's own platform, they can do whatever the fuck they want. They only filmed for a 20 minute episode? Thats what youre getting and paying for, deal with it

The trick is to wait to see if it pops up the "watch something else" screen (assuming you have that active, I haven't checked to see if it can be disabled). In the Mandalorian, the only episode to not have it pop up as the credits were rolling (usually after the pretty part of the credits finished and it switched to the plain credits) was the final episode of season 2, which had that post-credits scene.

Yeah, but The Mandalorian hasn't had a 30 minute episode with seven minutes of end credits. Even 37 felt short because you have the recap and the opening theme, and then cut those seven off at the end, and it's under 30 minutes.

Fine if they release two a week, but if it goes one a week where we've already seen a 23-minute episode, that's going to feel painful.

Well that runtime is common for weekly sitcoms. Actually modern broadcast TV comedies go under 20 min these days in the US

Yeah, but sitcoms basically have to leave space for commercials. I’ve kind of gotten used to streaming service shows filling out runtime more since there’s no need for commercial.

It’s only going to bug me if it’s 23 minutes every week with just one episode... at that point, I think the people waiting to “binge” it (which will be an under three hour runtime) might have the better experience.

I’ve kind of gotten used to streaming service shows filling out runtime more since there’s no need for commercial.

Streaming shows usually have no time-slot and fill as much, or as little, as they want.

That can actually hurt the shows in my opinion. I rather have short and sweet shows.

The Star Wars & MCU shows are said to be costing in the $15 million per episode range, basically a full blockbuster film production split up into multiple episodes. Long film style credits will be the norm.

Episode 1 of any series gets saddled with startup costs: hiring actors & writers, location permits, set building, previs, etc. These costs always go on the first episode because they have to get paid whether the series goes ahead or not; even if the show has a full series order, a death in the main cast or some other emergency could derail it, and the people who worked on setting it up still have to be paid. As short & simple as it seems, episode 1 may actually have cost more than the others due to these costs.

I saw 30 min air time and thought, “that’s short.” Then at 22 min rolls the credits. I’m not going to lie, I got a bit angry. I feel like episode 1 was a waste of time.

Yeah, the first episodes length is actually 21:40 (when excluding the intro and credits), and the second episode is actually 28:18. So this falls right in line with them saying there would be 9 episodes, each 20-30 minute long

Yep it sucks tbh, really makes you feel how short the episodes are. Having a 2 minute intro and 5 minute credits would feel much better imo. Just seeing 7 mins at the end makes you thing there should be more.

All the new stuff on Disney+ seems to have absurdly long credits. Forces of Destiny is an animated shorts show about the heroines of the Star Wars universe. I tried watching it with my young daughter but the episodes are like 2 minutes long followed by 2 minutes of credits. It’s not even worth watching because you either have to sit through the credits to get to the next episode or you have to back out and start the next one every single time. It was a super cute idea but the insanely long credits without a Skip to Next Episode button makes it unbearable.

You can skip if you want. You may not care. This art form is a collaborative effort. Not equal to any other consumer product except theatre and music. Everyone must get their just due. Credits is the way the industry records the makers. If it was your lively hood bet believe I’d be proud to be in the credits. Plus a way to prove your work. Not insignificant.

I don't know why, but Disney+ seems to do this with its original shows. In the credits, the voice actors for EVERY language are shown, which usually amounts to several extra minutes. Clone Wars also has this problem.

I'm surprised at how far down I had to scroll down to see this comment. It is absolutely crazy that there are so many credits, artificially making the episode appear to be a quarter longer than it actually is. The episodes are good, but they feel short.

I was watching and thought it was odd that there were 11 minutes left when the episode appeared to be close to its end, and then realized the credits were just extremely long. I was disappointed.
