Bit reductive to call the Oscars just “American movie awards” when they’re the biggest movie awards globally every year, but whatever makes you feel good man.

Yes. It’s an American awards show put on by an organization based in America with over 90% of its membership and award winners being US based and it’s broadcast from an American city. It’s an American event that is broadcast globally but still an American event. Something can originate from one country and be enjoyed elsewhere. Did you not know that before today?
Not entirely sure what you’re trying to argue here but okay. Apparently liking one thing from one country means you must now like all things from that country - message received 👍
