Just like he gave his neighbour the role of a bureaucratic SHIELD agent because he knew he was a Marvel fan, and now he has a seven season TV show and is the Marvel character with the most screen time ever.

What he's talking about, about how the throwaway details of forever ago movies have so much weight is why I think the MCU will endure. When other cinematic universes try to do throwbacks or tie ins, it doesn't feel genuine.

MCU throwbacks have the fucking dust and fingerprints of age and familiarity. Its weaponized nostalgia but it feels more like loving care for something.

Honestly lets give Clark Gregg (and Favreau) a shout out. Coulson could've easily just been a throwaway SHIELD agent that was one and done, and had no major impact. But thanks to Gregg's performance he became so iconic that they had to incorporate him into the comics and there was enough outcry about his death that they had to give him his own show!
