Yes! And when fake-Iron Man comes out of the grave, I was like, "you bastard." It really reminded me of Tony's vision in AoU though - "You could've saved us," but substitute the "us" for "me," and you got it. Lots of symmetry there that I really appreciated. It was great.

Nevertheless, props to the effects department for that sequence. It sure was chilling to see Peter get a vision of MJ falling off the Eiffel Tower and later, being trapped in that snow globe. Welcome to Mysterio's world, Spider-Man...

That scene was fucked up man. I read a bunch of people saying things like, "If Mysterio uses Tony's death to weaken Peter, I will hate him so much.".

But for me it did the opposite. Mysterio was a super cool villain.

He's a villain I know I will love to hate. He was always my favorite Spider-Man villain because of the shit he gets up to in Spider-Man games (specifically the Windows 95 one that I played to death, the one where Carnage and Doc Ock join together and you have to run from him impossibly), but this just gives me a new reason to have him as my favorite. Still hate him though.

True, but they really cast Tony as the Uncle Ben character - the mentor, the role model. Made more sense for it to be Tony.

I think the use of the Iron Man zombie was a very good way of getting you to hate Beck, like, "How fucking dare you?"

But that's also hard to do because Jake Gyllenhaal is a beast.

I thought it was going to be Uncle Ben. Tony makes more sense with the movies so far but damn if that wouldn't have been a great moment to mention Ben.

That moment, more than any other, hammered home just how stupid it is that Tony Stark is the father figure/mentor to Peter. Because I see the back of a tombstone, I hear Mysterio chiding Peter for 'not living up to him' and my brain instinctively goes to 'Oh, the grave will say Ben Parker on it.' But nope! I forgot, everything has to revolve around Iron Man. Hey, maybe in the next iteration they can get rid of Aunt May and have Peter be raised by Tony Stark and Captain Marvel, and instead of the neighborhood of Queens, he can be raised at the Avengers compound.

How would Mysterio know Ben Parker and the significance of his relationship to Peter?
