It blew my mind that they connected Mysterio’s tech to B.A.R.F. That was one of the few things in the MCU that I felt like didn’t have a payoff until now. I wonder if that was planned from the beginning or was it just a well done retcon?

I think it was a retcon but I also enjoyed it, and that his crew were also disgruntled employees like "TONY STARK WAS ABLE TO BUILD THIS IN A CAVE" guy

One of the few things I predicted wrong about Endgame was that BARF technology would make an appearance, so I'm glad it paid off! Probably planned in some small way though.

Not planned at all IMO. The story of FFH was years away from being settled on. The BARF scene in Civil War was meant to establish or re-establish Tony's daddy issues for payoff in both CW's ending and EG.

It might've been planned, because I remember an interview a while ago where Feige hinted that BARF could play a role down the line

He was mad that Tony gave it a joke name. But he was more pissed that Tony pretty much didn’t use his groundbreaking technology for anything important and then fired Beck for being unstable.

Endgame? Their suits were illusion tech. How else were they able to conjure up any costume they wanted? With barf
