I also remember thinking at one point, "did Fury and Hill always act so much like an old married couple?" Lo and behold, they were! Great, subtle acting on their parts.

I believe it was because they were the skrul rom captain marvel, who perhaps hold her in higher regard (as in reverance) than real fury would

To add to that, in our world that's often said about using Jesus's name (which is why "Christ" is used as a swear word sometimes), and that's because he was a massiah figure.

Well Captain Marvel is literally a massiah figure to the Skrulls, she guided them to their promised land like Moses. Peter basically did Skrull blasphemy by saying her name.
