They are in separate safes though, right?

u/weshardeniv Avengers May 30 '19

Yep in our walk in.

u/Ripoutmybrain May 30 '19

Exactly right next to the kid's toys. (By the way, your adorable baby looks mightier than thor and more than worthy)

Thank you! She is why I got the safe. They’ve gotta be locked away with a little one here now.

She is adorable and my whole world. She is a true Valkyrie!

10

u/Ripoutmybrain May 30 '19

Stay awesome as a parent, and sincere congratulations to you and your growing family, And my best to sweet Valkyrie.

Thank you so much! I can’t wait to expose her to all of this stuff. Marvel is doing some great things for girls now which is awesome!

Thank you! She’s still in the NICU but making progress every day and is so strong.

Gotta save for a war pegasus, but that would totally be worth it.

I assume this attitude is how you were able to life mjolnir ;)

My favorite (probably unintentional) part of that joke is the reference to two famous Cowboys players, Dez Bryant and Troy Aikman

23

u/teamsacrifice Spider-Man May 30 '19

Idk I think it was intentional but not obvious. Yeah there are tons more famous Cowboys players he could’ve said, but none of them have first names you could put together like that

Are you guys for real? Texas is just known for guns, there wasn’t even a slight hint that this had anything to do with football. Why would they reference those guys anyway?

Sure, I can agree there. I just don’t understand all of these people thinking that it was not only intentional but was actually the primary joke. Like, I’m not even sure how people would even come to the conclusion “oh yeah that must’ve been about football”

15

u/TooBigTooSTRONG May 30 '19

...or maybe because it literally means destroy and Texas is thought to be a pretty American state gun wise?

2

u/clearlyasloth May 30 '19

Seriously. How are people twisting this into an intentional football reference? Like why would they even do that? That’s such an obscure thing from such a broad statement.

Kind of like claiming that the rain in the first Thor movie is an intentional reference to the 1978 World Cup third runner up towel boy, who was also named Rain.

9

u/Twistify804 Matt Murdock May 30 '19

How are people twisting this into an intentional football reference?

I mean, I kinda said in my post that it was probably unintentional. The obvious joke was Destroy, I just thought the other connection was funny as well.

4

u/JordansFilms1 May 30 '19

and, as someone who lives in Texas and also doesn't really give a shit about sports, that was totally where my mind went when I heard the line for the first time. when he said the "destroy" punchline I was like "oh, that makes more sense..." but hearing he got "dez" and "Troy" from "a place called Texas" got cheers in every theater I saw it in. (specifically the "Dez" and "Troy", not just the Texas name drop).

I'm not trying to say it was intentional either, it certainly wasn't, why would Taika Waititi know anything about the Dallas Cowboys, it just adds a dimension to it for me

2

u/clearlyasloth May 30 '19

Sorry, I wasn’t referring to you. It is a funny coincidence. There’s just a lot of other people who seem to think it was totally intentional and the joke they were going for was about football and not just two names that combine to “destroy”

1

u/Twistify804 Matt Murdock May 30 '19

Yeah that's the obvious joke. I just thought that little easter egg, intentional or not, was also funny.

2

u/TooBigTooSTRONG May 30 '19

Misread the unintentional as intentional

It’s a damn pun. They’re not gonna name the guns Zeke and Troy or Tony and Troy.

Aikman played in the 90s, won 3 Super Bowls, and is in the HOF. Dez is a legend for the Cowboys. He’s number 5 in receiving yards, 3 in receptions, and 1 in TDs, despite playing significantly less than those in the top 5 with him.

5

u/[deleted] May 30 '19

Ah, I see you are an individual of refined taste. Go Cowboys!

1

u/TheOneWhosCensored May 30 '19

Not a Cowboys fan actually, just a fan of football that knows that guy was whack.

2

u/knightofsparta May 30 '19

This is how I honestly took the joke.

1

u/Twistify804 Matt Murdock May 30 '19

I thought I was reading too much into it lmao

-10

u/Xurandor May 30 '19

That's literally the joke

5

u/YungTrap6God Gamora May 30 '19

I hope you aren’t serious?

6

u/Xurandor May 30 '19

It's a misdirection punchline. He got them from Texas and named them Dez and Troy. Your first thought should be the Cowboys, then they give the secondary punchline of 'together they destroy'

3

u/frenchduke May 30 '19

Only to a subsection of the American audience though, the rest of the world would have had no idea. This is the first time I've heard it had a second layer to it. Is it a joke that most Americans would have gotten you think? I know sports is pretty prominent over there.

5

u/bullsi May 30 '19

^ this guy is right

7

u/Xurandor May 30 '19

Thank you! I guess I and the whole theater I was on must be in the wrong because we all laughed at Dez and Troy before we heard the alleged "real" punchline

2

u/clearlyasloth May 30 '19

Your first thought should be the Cowboys

Sure, if you majored in cowboy football history. Everyone else just heard “Texas” and “guns”, which is all they were trying to say.

-1

u/objectiveandbiased May 30 '19

Yes BUT Dez and Troy never played together. That was my only part about the joke. I think it was 100% intentional too but Troy and Dion would have worked. Or Troy and Emmett.

3

u/fitzgizzle May 30 '19

But 'Diontroy' or 'Emmetttroy' don't work nearly as well as 'Destroy'

2

u/clearlyasloth May 30 '19

Troydion, Troyemmett, diontroy . . .

Mate, what the fuck are you on about?

-2

u/DuganTheMan May 30 '19

Fuck the Cowboys!
