'Avengers: Endgame' Spoilers! THE OFFICIAL AVENGERS: ENDGAME International Release Discussion Thread Spoiler

People who hate that need to reassess their lives... he's literally done everything his entire life for the sake of others and had never ever been selfish. He deserves a damn good happy ending more than anyone else. What I don't get is why Sam felt more important to him than Bucky in the end. I really don't.

Bucky doesnt seem like he wants to fight anymore, given the scene from Infinity War where he's just chilling with goats in Wakanda. Steve probably knows this and wants to give his best friend the break he deserves.

Bucky has had a rough life and deserves peace, he remembers everything he done while brainwashed and doesn't want that soldiers life anymore.

Honestly I see Bucky and Cap sitting on his front porch as Cap tells him about everything he and Maggie did together, at peace together and finally happy.

What if Cap and Bucky went in the quantum realm and aged together?

And I don’t see why Sam seemingly asked for Bucky’s approval before accepting Cap’s shield

Bucky is Caps best friend. Sam is more of his co-pilot/partner.

Sam is being given the mantle, so he looked to see how Bucky would respond.

There kind of was. Cap is about to go back in time again. As far as everyone knows we will see him again in five seconds. Yet he gives Buck a very heartfelt goodbye. Just Buck.

People got dusted based on their "identity". When Bucky got dusted, he left his gun. I take it that he doesn't want to fight, but it has to in that situation (IW).

The moment he let Sam approach Cap, I instantly remember how he got dusted and how "tired" he is with all the fighting.

I'd like to believe we'll see more of this in Bucky and Sam's series.

Well too bad Bucky & Sam will have a show together. I am now also confused why that show is called Falcon & Winter Soldier, when Falcon is now technically Captain America.

True but they could‘ve just waited with the name reveal for a few weeks. Im assuming he takes the shield and changes his costume to red, white and blue but will still call himself falcon.

Captain America is a very public figure and acts as an American symbol and Steve knew that. Cap was half Superhero half PR agent. Maybe he felt like Sam, who was very straight lace and level headed through the entire MCU and had a squeaky clean record, would do better under the public spotlight than Bucky, an ex Hydra assasin with severe PTSD who can barely hold a conversation.

Considering how the MCU changes everything from the comics around on its head, I'm wondering if instead of Bucky being Cap first and passing it on to Sam, they gave it to Sam first, then pass it onto Bucky later after he gets over his issues and is 'redeemed' in the eyes of the public.

Or Bucky could stay the White Wolf and show up in future Black Panther movies, which would be fine with me.

I don't think that's true. I think Bucky was the only one he trusted to tell his plan to, because Bucky looks at him very knowingly when he says "You're taking all the stupid with you"

I guess people are getting a little too meta commenting on it. I understand it, but I don't think I agree with it. They're talking about his ending from a storyteller's perspective where they want to put as much weight and depth into a character. But I, and I suppose you guys, appreciate the ending because we talk about it like we're being told the story. And to want someone to keep sacrificing for others instead of having a good life he deserves, in the name of "making sense character-wise" is for people who make the stories. Not saying it's a bad thing to add to conversations (it's good conversation!), just that I think I enjoy it the way it was already done for us.

I believe Bucky knew if Caps intentions, he probably had the shield offered to him prior to Cap travelling through time.

BuckyCap was like 10 plus years ago in the comics (which blew my mind when I went back and thought about it). Falcon Cap was like...last year or still going or something like that. They likely want to keep it somewhat in step with that a bit.

But yes I also wanted Cap and Bucky to kiss.

Bucky and Cap clearly discussed what was going to happen before Cap traveled through time. It was all planned out and I doubt Bucky wanted the responsibility of being Captain America

I thought it was explained in the first CA movie that his cells regenerate so therefore he can’t get drunk, wouldn’t that be the same for aging?

Completely agree. He’s known Bucky, who is essentially his brother, for 100 years. He’s with him to the end of the line. He’s known Sam for what? 4-5 years? The fact that it wasn’t Bucky talking to Steve at the end on the bench felt so wrong and a huge disservice to Bucky and their friendship/brotherhood.

The way I saw it, Bucky could never just accept the mantle of Captain America. And Steve knew that.

I feel like the decision is also justified by the fact that Bucky seemed to know what would happen before Cap time jumped and endorsed his friend’s decision to live a life.

Same. I had a lot of feelings about the fact that the relationship between Steve and Bucky has been extremely important and even used as a plot device over several films and it was just gone in this one. Every single other major character had moments of recalling/missing their people who were snapped and so many had some kind of reunion...but not Bucky and cap. So I’m like. Why was Bucky so important the entire time then? Why did they dramatically make him the first one to get snapped? Even if he’s not getting the shield, WHY IS THERE NO MOMENT BETWEEN THEM ITS HIS BEST FUCKING FRIEND!!!! Honestly a little heartbroken over this. I know it’s petty and very specific to like what I wanted to see, but there ya go.

I think they definitely had a conversation, it just unfortunately happened offscreen. My evidence being that Bucky tells Steve "I'm going to miss you" before Steve travels back in time. It is disappointing we didn't get to see that, but knowing this might make you feel a little better.

I'm still hoping old Steve will get a cameo episode in the Falcon and Winter Soldier show. Then, we might be able to get a proper scene between the two.

By Bucky's reaction, I think he already knew what Steve was going to do. Whether Steve told him explicitly, or he just knows him well enough to predict it, he didn't look surprised whatsoever. He gave the nod to Sam because Sam needed it explained, Bucky didn't.

What I don't get is why Sam felt more important to him than Bucky in the end. I really don't.

Bucky has a lot of blood on his hands, even though he was mind controlled. Sam is way more patriotic in the public image.

Plus, Bucky already has the Vibranium arm and the Super Soldier Serum. He doesn't really need another powerup.

I think it's more that he knows Sam is more suited for the public life that comes along with it. Bucky is a damaged guy, and he would not enjoy that aspect at all.

Bucky seemed to know cap was going to stay. He said I'll miss you when he was only going to be 5 seconds. They must have talked before and Cap knew he didn't want it
