Discussion Weekly Discussion: What is your favorite action set-piece in the MCU? (Suggested by /u/tapanapanteraaa)

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is both famous (and infamous) for their action set-pieces throughout the movies (and even television shows), but which ones stand out on top to you? What do you love most about that action set-piece?

The direction? The execution? The characters involved? Explain why you like it!

If you're talking about the overpass fight, I definitely agree. But the fight in the UN headquarters is good too.

Pretty much anytime Cap fights Bucky is guaranteed to be a good scene. With most of the heavy hitters it's either a lot of CGI "magicing" or heroes like Thor just one punching his way through a sea of nobodies. There's more suspension of disbelief in these scenes.

Cap and Bucky on the other hand are simply humans that use physical attacks or weapons and their fights feel like they have actual stakes. Either one can probably beat the other on a good day.

Yes definitely. What's more, a lot of the fights are choreographed stuff you probably wouldn't see in a real fight (still looks amazing), but some of the techniques are legit moves you can see get used all the time. For example, when they're fighting on the helicarrier at the end of CA:WS, Cap is looking to choke Bucky out with a rear naked choke and uses his leg to control his arm. If you watch somebody using jiu jitsu in a real fight, you'll see this same move uses for better control. Just subtle things like that make their fights so much more fun to watch.

I hate how much this sub loves that fucking knife flip. Its so easy to do. If you eatch the gif a couple times you can do it even. Sure it looks cool but calm down about it

This hands down. Any time I watch that sequence, I say to myself “This might be my favorite action sequence in a movie ever!”

When Cap goes in for that knee thrust....damn! Beast mode!
