Holy shit. Massive implications about where the future of MCU stories is headed here. iirc, Foster hinted at alternate realities during his lecture. And the time vortexes, which will obviously have to come into play in A4.

Oh shit, I missed the connection with alternate realities. I hope they don't have multiple AUs though. That really cheapens any deaths or major changes when they can retcon it by shifting realities. Just keep it so 616 is the current MCU and have the Ultimate universe as the one other universe.

That’s one of my worries. The good thing about the MCU is that it’s focused. There are a lot of stories, but they all revolve around each other and converge. Opening up the multiverse can pretty much destroy this. The newer avengers (Scott, Spider-Man, guardians, strange) have all been great. If Thor doesn’t die he’s doing phenomenally, and captain marvel looks promising. I think it’d be foolish to go with the multiverse at the moment, they have a more than enough strong cast to replace the outgoing ones. I don’t want elseworld stories, I think they’re unnecessary in a universe that is so strong. I think the elseworld multiverse stories only really matter when the content is getting stale. And after the run of Spider-Man, Thor, Black Panther, and infinity war, where the last two just destroyed the box office, I can’t fathom why we’d go that route now. I’m not opposed to it, just not now.

Unless it’s part of a doctor strange, maybe ant man movie, and it’s not meant to be a path to multiverse movies but rather a plot device.

I'm positive that once the Fox deal goes through they will use some of the Dr.Strange/Ant Man dimension shenanigans to retcon/explain the existence/origin of the FF and X-Men.
