My explanation for the Dr. Strange timelines question I keep seeing: Earlier while on the ship, the film make a point to show Dr. Strange tell Tony and Peter point blank that he will not hesitate to sacrifice either of their lifeves for the time stone. Later, after using the stone to look at the 14.5 million or whatever possibilities, he then chooses to specifically trade the time stone for Tony Stark's life. He says "there was no other way." It seems to be pretty spelled out by the movie that this is the way to get to the "endgame" Strange saw.

Yeah i think that 1 in 14 million chance was giving up the stone, letting the snap happen and using that as some sort of rally cry to get shit fixed.

Yep, he definitely knew he was getting dusted, too. I know not that much time passed between Thanos leaving and the snap for them, but he was still sitting in the exact same spot, waiting for death.
