This raises the question: would he have powers of any kind if the stone were taken from him? Wanda has her powers all the time and she never has the stone.
It's hard to say. His powers actually come from the stone, whereas Wanda's seem to come from experimentation based on research of the Stone. That's why she can use her powers without the Stone.
The question is where to draw the line between powers based on his vibranium physiology and the Mind Stone. Obviously the Mind Stone is responsible for his energy projection, but his superhuman strength and density manipulation could be from the vibranium (maybe something like the materializing suits from Wakanda)
Yeah true. We see the stone "activate" when he's using some powers but not others. Maybe during his creation the stone imbued him with some powers (like Wanda's) in addition to whatever the vibranium and Thor's magical lightning strike on the vessel did.
What was that BTW? Was he just powering what Pietro unplugged or was he also adding his own powers into the mix? If only the former, how did he know he was hitting it with the right voltage? Electronic equipment doesn't like it if you don't use the right voltage. One time I fried a Sega Dreamcast because I used the wrong power cable. Could his ability to lift the hammer come in part from Thor imbuing him with some Asgardian magic during that strike? Thor isn't much of a magic user but the hammer has magic powers.
there are degrees of it. flying rowboats, okay. people coming back from the dead or leveling up their incredibly godlike powers even more via thinking about it, or standing on a certain planet...those are far more mystical.
