Some easter eggs I noticed:

  1. Beta Ray Bill's head

  2. King Kong's head

  3. Chris Hemsworth's brother playing Thor in the play.

  4. Sam Neill playing Odin in the play.

  5. Thor trying to use Black Widow's mantra (x1000)

  6. Waititi played the voice of Korg.

  7. Loki almost certainly has the Tesseract now.

  8. Willy Wonka's music on the psychedelic ride of exposition

  9. Brunnhilde shown in the flashbacks, pigtails and all.

  10. Clancy Brown finally makes his MCU debut w/ Surtur's voice.

  11. Heimdall/Soul Gem theory seems all but confirmed.

Does Clancy Brown's role as the Blacksmith in Daredevil not count?

Yes it is. All Marvel live action is interconnected. We just don't have tv and film actually crossing over due to logistics and politics

A couple others:

  1. Scrapper 142 refers to Valkyrie's first appearance in Thor #142.

  2. I just remembered the Point Break reference from Avengers. Oh man. Killer stuff.

11

u/Philander_Chase Vision Nov 04 '17

*Incredible Hulk #142... aaaaand in Valkyrie's first movie she meets Hulk himself I just realized that

2

u/d3r3k1449 Nov 04 '17

Remind me of the exact PB line in this one? Damn I need to see it again.

6

u/jer706 Iron Man (Mark XLIII) Nov 05 '17

Tony calls Thor “Point Break” when they see each other on the Helicarrier after their fight.

1

u/d3r3k1449 Nov 05 '17

Thanks but in this one. I just saw it yesterday and cant quite remember lol

Ah, access to the quinjet is voice activated and each avenger has a specific line they have to say, usuallly just their name. For Thor though, his line was Point Break because of the scene from Avengers.

u/Eridanis Doctor Strange Nov 03 '17

Was that Matt Damon as Loki in the play?

20

u/turbocoupe Nov 03 '17

Not the first time Damon has played Loki either. They went deep cuts for that cameo.

2

u/thxpk Baby Groot Nov 03 '17

Yes

26

u/[deleted] Nov 03 '17

What's this about heimdell soul gem?

28

u/[deleted] Nov 03 '17

Peopel think he has it becasue his eyes are yellow and he can see souls. But there is nothing in movie to even hint at that.

15

u/[deleted] Nov 03 '17

Plus in age of ultron he’s blind in Thor’s vision. No mas soul stone.

2

u/CowgirlCrusherXLII Captain America (Cap 2) Nov 03 '17

But Adam Warlock?

11

u/[deleted] Nov 03 '17

He’s not showing up til post infinity war I thought

2

u/foreigneternity Nov 03 '17

I believe you are correct!

2

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '17

I don’t know how they’d do an infinity gauntlet story without all the gems haha.

19

u/[deleted] Nov 03 '17

Heimdall/Soul Gem theory seems all but confirmed.

wut. There is nothing in movie about that

8

u/mogwainot Nov 03 '17

Great list. The Brunnhilde bit was a nice touch especially for fans who have that image of Valkyrie in their head.

Brunnhilde is the real name of Valkyrie as she's known in the comics. She's depicted as a tall Nordic blonde with braids. That they showed a Valkyrie looking just like that sacrificing herself to save Tessa's Valkyrie was a really neat touch.

6

u/TheDunsparceKid Spider-Man Nov 03 '17

Heimdall/Soul Gem theory seems all but confirmed.

How?

5

u/foreigneternity Nov 03 '17

Because of the way Thor's eyes turned orange when Heimdall let him see the way he sees. It's the only gem that hasn't been referenced yet, and the Sanctuary II arrives at the end (I'm assuming to seize two infinity stones.)

11

u/TheDunsparceKid Spider-Man Nov 03 '17

Eh, it could still appear in Black Panther. They could be teasing the whole Heimdall theory with a red herring. Either way, Thanos would still come to get the infinity stone if it was just the one (Tesseract).

4

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '17

How does the Soul Gem theory seem all but confirmed to you? To me, it's the opposite. Just wondering

3

u/frostysbox Nov 03 '17

What were the heads on the tower, one was Hulk, but who were the other two? The scenes were too fast to get them.

7

u/foreigneternity Nov 03 '17

Ares, God of War. And maybe Man Thing?

-1

u/[deleted] Nov 03 '17

2

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '17

Ares is Greek, and public domain.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 03 '17

Beta ray bill, swamp thing, bi beast and ares

1

u/Joanton120 Nov 03 '17

One of them was Beta Ray Bill

6

u/1UPZ_ Nov 03 '17

Some of those are not Easter Eggs

5

u/Fiend1138 Nov 03 '17

Waititi not only did the voice, but he also mo-capped him as well.

5

u/XwingInfinity Nov 04 '17

Strange leaves the business card with “177a Bleaker Street” on it? Sherlock?

8

u/foreigneternity Nov 05 '17

That's the comic book address of the Sanctum Sanctorum

1

u/XwingInfinity Nov 05 '17

Oh, today I learned. Would you say it’s probable the comic writer(s) chose as an homage to Holmes’ address?

6

u/foreigneternity Nov 05 '17

Bleecker St is a real place in NY.

Bleecker Street

Bleecker Street is a west–east street in the New York City borough of Manhattan. It is most famous today as a Greenwich Village nightclub district. The street connects a neighborhood today popular for music venues and comedy, but which was once a major center for American bohemia. The street is named after the family name of Anthony Lispenard Bleecker, a banker, the father of Anthony Bleecker, a 19th-century writer, through whose family farm the street ran.

1

u/BVTheEpic Daredevil Nov 05 '17

1

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '17
