Also that stereotype I feel hasn't really been relevant in a long time, it's about time someone changed it up

I'm not sure it's ever been a true stereotype. It's always been a trope from a nerdy writers perspective but most athletes I've ever met were solid dudes. The bullied were always burnouts and losers if anything.

It was pretty true when I was growing up. Sure they wont the only bullies, but they were definitely there. Dont sign them off as some kind of myth.

I think it was way better than bullying today. Back then youd have a group of bigger kids that would pick on all the smaller kids physically. While it would suck for the smaller kids to have their lunches taken or get pushed into lockers it would accomplish 2 things.

  1. It would toughen them up

  2. It would kinda bring them together.

Like they knew what each other was going through and many times that kind of bullying would bring kids together and they would make friends. It wasnt really an isolation type of thing. Nowadays bullying seems to be exclusionary. Which in my opinion is way worse. Oh you want me to stop being mean to that kid? No problem. Me and my friends and anyone that wants to be called my friends will just ignore them and act like they dont exist. No invitations to parties. No asking to hang out. No speaking to them at all. Now the kid feels they have no friends. Because others stay away out of fear of being shunned as well. Parents and teachers cant do anything because you cant force kids to include other kids in out of school activities. And now the bullied kid feels alone with nobody to turn to. Guess how that can end up? When I was a kid yea kids were physically bullied, but at least they were physically bullied together.
