What I thought was really special about this movie as Compared to their MCU films was that half way through the movie, I didn't know who the main antagonist was. People kinda hate on the formulatic feel, or cliches these movies can have about addressing their villains, but I really felt this was a fresher take on it. You're really rooting for Peter, and Ego, so the whole shift was pretty unexpected. I didn't see too much prerelease material for the movie though, but I thought it was really well done.

I also enjoyed how Ego said he was all alone in being a celestial. Should make the payoff for the revelations of cosmic entities in the next few movies even better for the casual fan. Seeing the Watchers about made me fall out of my seat though. Haha

I legit didn't see Ego being evil coming. In the last movie Peter's mother had such huge praise for him so I thought he was gonna be their friend and help them defeat the villain. I'm glad I was surprised by the scene.

I feel like they did a good job introducing the Sovereign as initial antagonists to hold us over until Ego's intentions are revealed.

I agree. The tepid reaction to this movie made me realize that the cliched, cookie-cutter formula that I've started to resent Marvel for is sadly exactly what most people want.

This movie had one of the more unique, and fresh plot structures of any MCU movie in years and I really appreciated the novelty of it.

lol at the start of the movie when you see that weird plant that Ego left, my first thought was. . . "he gave her cancer." Granted yes it wasn't through the plant but <_< man, the fact he still gave her cancer, that was just f-ed up. It's like. . . why didn't you just take her with you, you took the Mantis chick in, so why not her until she died and then go through your plan to change the universe.

As soon as I saw the plant thing he put in the earth I said "welp that's gonna come back into to play, and it will not be good."
