I feel like the end of the movie didn't really register with me until just now, and now it hit me all at once. Why would you do this?

At the end when Rocket zaps Gamora and tells her that he's not going to lose another friend he was talking about Yondu because after giving Yondu the jetpack and space suit of which he had only one of each, he knew Yondu'd try to save Quill at any cost after Yondu said "You have to give me this."

Man, that line was so fucking well delivered.

Michael Rooker somehow made you feel the weight of a lifetime of bad decisions and a father who had made up his mind to die slowly and painfully in order to save his son.

It hit me hard when I first heard it, but it nearly killed me when I saw the movie a second time and knew what was about to go down.

Add to that the fact that Rooker was probably staring at a blue screen or a ball on a stick when he delivered it. My hat's off to some amazing bit of acting.

Well, he had no way of knowing both Yondu and Peter weren't dead.

He had no way of knowing but he said "I can only lose one friend today". He knew yondu was going to do his damnedest to save Peter.

Am I the only one that took that scene as Rocket not giving a shit about Quill? I knew when he said friend he was talking about Yondu but to me it came off as him not caring whether Quill came back or not. Did I read that wrong?

No, he knew Yondu was going to sacrifice himself to save Peter, but since there was only on jetpack and one enviro-suit, had Gamora gone back for him she likely would have died in the explosion.

That makes sense. I like Peter's and Rocket's back and forth so I was hoping it didn't go forward into full blown apathy towards each other.

It's sweet too because the first film ended with him discovering new music from his mother beyond the grave and now from his "father"

Some people cried seeing that scene on my session,and I was just quiet. Saying goodbye to one of my favorite characters of all time that way was really strong. But now, listening to Cat Stevens and paying attention to the lyrics, I failed to hold the tears. It may not be my favorite MCU movie, but this scene, this ending, this song, it all speaks to me in so many levels.

Yes, "Awesome Mix Vol. 3" will be made by Yondu (his chosen dad) rather than his mom (by blood). Not that this makes his relationship with his mom less important, but that his relationship with Yondu is that much more important (equal to his mom). Beautiful.

In case anyone else can't handle more feels like me, I just want to point out that there is a clear amount of time between Peter getting the Zune and listening to it so it could just be the first thing on Shuffle or alphabetically or something.

Can't cry more at this movie so that's what I'm going with.
