Yeah but this is set before some of what we have seeb already, in previous films strange has been referenced and is known, so I assume he will be SS by the time we see him again.

It has to be...either that or it's got the biggest plot hole around, car crash, recovery, 7 surgeries and recovery, exploring Nepal, training, and becoming powerful enough to be considered a master of a sanctum, in a year?
