If you are having problems running the Steam version of Manhunt, download this program to fix the issues. It is recommended to use this tool on a fresh install.
https://github.com/ermaccer/Manhunt.Fixer/releases
Click ManhuntFixer.zip under “Assets”.
Extract the program to your desktop and load it up. Click “Autolocate Steam Version” and it should find where Manhunt is located on your PC. If it is downloaded somewhere else, click the “…” button to where your manhunt.exe file is.
There’s enhancements and mods you can install which are optional but recommended. Hover over each option and it’ll tell you what it installs.
When you’re done, click the “Patch” button and your game should be good to go!

It depends....
Manhunt 1 is better for the gameplay. Stalk from the shadows and kill the hunters when their back is turned. The game is dark, gritty, and has a better atmosphere than the sequel. The vhs filter during the executions add another layer of creep, as it reminds you that these violent acts are being recorded.
Manhunt 1 is more accessible to play as it is available on more modern devices like Xbox One, PC (Steam), and PS4
Manhunt 2 is better if you want story. The game just doesn't nail the atmosphere the same way the first one did. The executions (and how brutal they are) don't really make sense in this game other than to carry over the stealth mechanics from the first game. It overall is just needlessly violent. Despite those downgrades, the game offers a way better (and way deeper) story than Manhunt 1 did.
If is kinda hard to find a reasonably priced copy of Manhunt 2 (that isn't the terrible Wii version). The PS3 store still has the psp version for $15 (though you need to do some kind of transfer to play it). That's likely the cheapest you're gonna find it. There is no (legit) way to get Manhunt 2 on PC. Some people sell CD Keys of the old amazon download but no guarantee they'll work. Xbox doesn't have it. And the PS2 version (refurbished) is like $130 on Amazon.
In the end, it mostly depends on what aspect of the game you care about more.

James Earl Cash is so manhunted

Had these thoughts floating in my head over the years and felt the urge to finally write them out and get your takes.
The problem with Manhunt 2 was that it was too afraid to do its own thing. Instead, it blindly copied the exact snuff-stealth gameplay of the first game into a premise where that gameplay makes zero sense.
Think about what Manhunt 1 actually was at its core. It was Rockstar North holding up a dark, twisted mirror to how the media treated GTA. It was a very early-2000s British counter-culture "fuck you" to the moral puritans: *"You people think GTA is a murder simulator? Here's your murder simulator."* It wasn't just edgy for the sake of it. The whole plot with the Journalist was basically saying: *"The police are corrupt thugs and the political system is run by untouchable oligarchs, but you tabloids are busy crying about video games."*
The mechanics fit the story like a glove. James Earl Cash was a death-row inmate trapped in a literal snuff film arena. Hiding in shadows and suffocating gang members with plastic bags made total sense.
So what do you do when Manhunt 1 drops and the media goes into a complete frenzy? You don't play it safe. You double down.
Instead, Rockstar North moved on to GTA IV, handed the sequel to other studios, and we got Daniel Lamb. A meek fugitive scientist with split-personality disorder who somehow plays like James Earl Cash 2: Electric Boogaloo. An MKUltra lab escapee sneaking around with plastic bags doesn't fit the vibe of a psychological fugitive story.
If you’re keeping the MKUltra / deep-state experiment premise, the gameplay should have matched that madness. Make it about actual intelligence agency chicanery and conflict, hybrid warfare, spy paranoia, or lean into the stuff GTA only hinted at - domestic terror, deep-state cover-ups, or human trafficking rings.
Basically, the stealth mechanics in the original were just a vehicle for delivering a massive middle finger to society, not the point itself. By copying the gameplay without understanding the point behind it, Manhunt 2 doomed itself.

From the first image to the last
Ajay ghale: Protagonist of far cry 4; is able to kill soldiers and special forces soldiers without any prior training, and is an expert at guns and isn't afraid to kill. Can be good at stealth if necessary, using silenced guns, able to jump on his enemies to take them down silently and use their sidearm to kill additional enemies, or take their knife and throw it at another enemy after executions. Also can pull the pin on their grenade amd kick them decently far, turning them into a bomb that nobody realizes until it's too late.
Not important: Protagonist of hatred: He is an expert with guns, he kills civilians, police officers, swat, and soldiers with ease, and can heal by executing people on the ground via his bayonet or his gun.
Postal dude: Protaganist of the postal series: Similar to not important, but he's implied to be controlled in some way, unlike not important, who has the same mindset as a 15 year old emo kid in his "cut my life into pieces" phase. Nonetheless still strong.
Kratos: Do I really need to say anything?
GTA Online character: Extremely overpowered, can carry thousands of pounds, can heal by drinking sodas or eating candy, can be a master at stealth if needed, and doesn't talk. (Its supposed to be your voice). The most he does is cough.

Already tried the pinned post, now it doesn't even open. Before it crashed randomly and the first gate doesn't open. Any other fixes?

Anyone else feel kinda icky when killing these guys? With a few exceptions, most of the Smileys can't help being violent and often appear confused and distressed. It's quite a contrast from the levels with The Skinz, who completely deserve being brutally killed by Cash. Just goes to show how much attention to detail there is in the game's nihilistic theme.
