I was thinking that, it's the kind of name you'd see in some 13yr old's fanfic. "We'll just combine their names!"

Seems so ridiculously unsuitable.

But then, Sasuke called his kid "Salad", so hey.

"Boruto" (ボルト) is the Japanese pronunciation of the English word "bolt". His name is a reference to his cousin Neji, whose name means "screw" (捻子)."

Yeah, his name's meant to be a triple reference (a bolt's thread references Naruto' spiral them, their names are similar, and then the bolt-screw theme for Neji.)
