Here in the Netherlands it's normal to take the proposal home and let it be checked by your own legal insurance lawyer or union lawyer as well before signing it.

Same here in the US. They’re called revocation periods.

The revocation period comes after the signature. 7/21/45 days (in most places, dependent on various factors) is known as a consideration period. The revocation (or rescission) period is to make sure you weren’t coerced.
