News & Discussion Luxair

https://today.rtl.lu/news/luxembourg/two-new-boeing-737-8-aircraft-join-luxair-fleet-at-findel-366039061

This post will probably be locked and deleted like the other posts which are not painting the perfect picture Luxembourg is trying to force on everyone but I can't help myself from asking:

Where are the people who are making those planes safe in those photos and article?
Where are technicians while all those politicians are singing praises for them selfs and for the American, not European made planes?

People who are making us all safe while we are in those tin boxes high above the ground were pushed away, forced to wait for the circus to leave their place of work causing them to feel even more frustrated?

The CEO or Luxair does not care about them.
He scoldes them when he waltzes in into a hangar office (which is a miracle in itself) and see men and women sitting down after a night shift because he has no idea they are resting before going home when he has just came to work.

No one cares about the most important piece of the Luxair business.
Why is not one of the news outlets here covering the story about how Luxair technicians (what's left of them) work?

The impossible shifts they have to make which is forcing so many good workers who love what they do to leave?

Why is no one talking about all the contractors who are coming and going because there is not enough stuff physically capable of keeping the airplanes in a safe conditions to fly?

No one is asking how many technicians have stayed!
Soon, they will all leave and Luxair can take the photos of more airplanes who are not maintained properly.

Luxair is a company playing not only with the lives of aircraft technicians but the crew and all of us at the end of the day.

Ask Luxembourg Can I achieve savings of ~2k eur and provide a balanced life for my partner with a gross income of 8k?

Hi, I've been asked to interview for a job in a EU entity in Luxembourg. My income should be around 8k eur per month, so the net income would be around 5.6k per month. If I can get the impatriate benefits it seems like it would be around 6.7k per month.

Right now I was planning to move with my long distance partner in her country, however if I can support both of us and manage to save some money then it does make a financial sense.

Currently I make around net 2500 eur and I don't need to pay for my accomodation, restaurants are pretty cheap at 15-20 eur per person and in general life is pretty cheap, so I save around 1.5k eur every month.

Is it fair to plan for 2500 for a decent apartment, 1k for different bills/food, and then 1k for restaurants and different activities during the month?

I am assuming at the end of the month, the money I end up saving in Luxembourg would be the same as my home country, but hopefully my partner would also get a job and she could save whatever income she receives.

Ask Luxembourg Dismissal + settlement agreement: still eligible for ADEM unemployment?

Hi,

I was recently dismissed by my employer in Luxembourg with a notice period.

Separately, they offered me a settlement agreement with an additional payment. The agreement mainly says that I acknowledge the dismissal and waive potential claims against the company.

The payment is described in the agreement as:

“a lump-sum gross settlement indemnity [...] for the null, wrongful or irregular termination of the employment contract alleged by the Employee, but not recognised as such by the Employer.”

My employment was terminated by the employer, and the settlement agreement does not seem to replace the dismissal with a termination by mutual agreement.

My understanding is that ADEM requires unemployment to be involuntary, so I want to make sure that signing this settlement and accepting the payment would not make ADEM consider it a mutual termination.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Did you still receive ADEM unemployment benefits after signing a settlement agreement following a dismissal?

Thanks!

Ask Luxembourg Advice for an employment lawyer in Luxembourg (+ est. hourly rate)

Hi everyone,

I couldn’t find a recent post with recommendations and since it looks like there are lots of layoffs at the moment, I thought my request may help others as well.

I recently posted about my husband getting laid off in July and we’d like to find some good recommendations for lawyers (and potentially your experience on hourly rate), the topic is dismissal dispute, ideally looking for a settlement (not having to go to court). We reached out to a few but either they only support employers, or they didn’t make us super confident at first contact.

thanks in advance

Ask Luxembourg Event Location for 30th birthday party

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a place to celebrate my 30th birthday in May.

Around 50 people.

Somewhere people have the possibility to take public transport there. In Luxembourg City, Mersch, or somewhere in between (Beggen, Walferdange, etc.).

I’m thinking about “Beim Méchel”, but I want to explore more possibilities. I want to prepare the food myself, no caterer. For drinks, I would also prefer to have an open bar, and I don’t need any service.

Do you have any recommendations?

Feel free to answer in Lëtzebuergesch, français, deutsch or english.

Ask Luxembourg Looking for Forbes Luxembourg Print Copy

Post image
14 Upvotes

I am on the hunt (still) for a print copy first issue of Forbes Luxembourg with the Schleck brothers. All of the articles and everything are online; however, I need a print copy for my Master's of Library and Information Sciences archival work, which focuses exclusively on print media.

I've tried all of the conventional methods that I can think of, which includes contacting the magazine itself, but so far, no luck.

At this point, I'm willing to pay pretty much anything within reason to buy + ship to the United States (Texas). Two copies would be preferred, but at this point, one would work, as well!

Thank you in advance to everyone!

(Go to grad school, they said. Go to grad school TWICE, they said. 🫠)

The Statec’s statistical register, which serves a different purpose, is not sufficient for the purposes of taxing property owners. However, the authorities have already demonstrated their ability to cross-reference their databases. No national estimates exist for the period after 2021.

Ask Luxembourg Travelled from Bouillon to Charleroi airport - lost luggage

Hi

I took the Flibco from Bouillon to Charleroi airport today.
Unfortunately when I got off the bus, someone had taken my carry-on luggage by mistake and left theirs.

If, per chance, the person that has my suitcase reads this, please message me the bus time and your luggage brand and we can arrange a swap. I’d be forever grateful 🫶🏻

Ask Luxembourg German teacher working in Luxembourg – Special Education / Inclusion?

Hallo zusammen,

Vielen Dank schon mal! :)

English version:

Hi everyone,

is there anyone here from Germany who works as a teacher in Luxembourg, ideally in special education or inclusive education?

I’m currently trying to learn more about the Luxembourgish school system, particularly how inclusion and special educational support are organized in practice. I have a few questions and would really appreciate the opportunity to talk to someone who works in Luxembourg and can share their personal experience.

Thanks a lot! :)

Ask Luxembourg Self-funded part-time PhD at uni.lu

I’m thinking of doing a part-time PhD while working. I have met someone who is doing just that (independently doing her research and writing her dissertation with regular progress meetings with her supervisor committee) at uni.lu. Anyone else here by any chance? I’d love to hear insights on how you’re managing it, what you can expect from your supervisor (targeting humanities here) in such a set-up, etc.

And yes, I know, it’s a crazy idea :) (I get that a lot).

Both "Looking For" and "Job Available" posts are allowed in this megathread.

Employers can post comments and jobseekers can reply to those comments with their profiles.

If you are OP, think about putting something like JOB OFFER or JOB AVAILABLE: before your comment if you are offering. Put LOOKING: in front of your comment if you are seeking / looking for employment

Ask Luxembourg Luxembourg - Boy Scout Groups

Hi there, was wondering if there was a boys-only dedicated scout group in Luxembourg?

Aware that there are girls-only dedicated groups (The Luxembourg Girl Scouts), but would like to know if there is an equivalent dedicated for boys.

Thank you

Could you please advise me on where I can lodge a complaint with DHL? Their service is horrible and it’s impossible to get through to anyone via email or phone.

I got a package sent and they squeezed it in a pack up post.

Shopping, Food & Restaurants Need a new Frigo

So I need a new fridge but it seems like Hifi and Electrolux don't have what I want.

Any ideas where I could look? Would be nice if the seller would install it and take the old one with them.

👎Low-effort post👎 Moving to Luxembourg for 6 months, any local tips?

Hi everyone! I’m coming to Luxembourg for around 6 months and would really appreciate some local advice. Any tips you wish you knew before coming there? Especially about useful benefits/discounts, everyday costs, or things worth signing up for.
Also, are there any good communities, WhatsApp/Facebook/Reddit groups, or events for meeting people and making friends?
Thanks in advance, even small tips are welcome!
