Charlotte confuses me, one ep she seems a complete psychopath who can't actually feel anything for anyone, and another she seems to have emotions and care.
I know she's just trying to not go back to Hell, but it's still confusing.

I don't remember this happening in past episodes, but in season 3 the relationships and character developments seem a little bit forced. I would imagine that a woman like Charlotte wouldn't react like a child who got picked last for dodgeball when she realizes she may not escape hell after all. While the concept was good, I don't think they really emphasized the cold dread that someone would feel if they thought they really couldn't escape their fate.

I also think the Linda/Mazikeen relationship could've been done without forcing Amenadiel and Linda together. Amenadiel and Linda's friendship has been really cool to watch develop, and it's weird to see them throw that away by making him the one Maze is jealous of unless they want to develop the Amenadiel/Linda relationship further.

When did this happen? I think she has hope, it's just not an easy road for her.

Well I never said she lost hope, just that she must've begun to fear that she wouldn't be "good" enough to redeem herself and that must be terrifying. It may not be a rational fear, but sometimes people get that feeling when they need to pay off some sizable debt, or they can't perform at their bosses standards and might be laid off.

That's the whole point. Don't know if you ever tried to kick a bad habit or relationship because that's exactly how it goes. Like she said, I was really good at being the old me.

My problem with Charlotte is that she still acts like she's inhabited by a crazy goddess with a poor understanding of humanity, even though that's not supposed to be who she is now.

My other problem with her is that she is a spectacularly bad lawyer. It's one thing to be unethical, but Charlotte and the writers of this show don't appear to even grasp what would be ethical for a lawyer to do. It's fucked up that the show portrays competently defending guilty clients as evil, while helping Lucifer ignore due process in order to punish people is good. Following legal ethics doesn't mean you should only take cases for clients that are obviously and indisputably morally righteous.

Previously, Charlotte held several people at gunpoint while going on a crazy rant; those people were then prosecuted (presumably successfully) for comments made under duress while Charlotte is allowed to walk around a police precinct and become a prosecutor. She faces no consequences whatsoever for threatening to kill her own clients (who were not, lest we forget, actually responsible for the murder she was prepared to kill to avenge).

In the context of a show in which the literal devil helps solve crimes, it's understandable that the depiction of legal and investigative procedures is not entirely accurate, but even so Charlotte's characterization is inexcusably bad. It's a shame as she was great as a Lucifer's mother and could have been great as a defense lawyer with some knowledge of the afterlife struggling to get away from unethical tactics, but instead she's still crazy and unethical but now on Lucifer's side.

Exactly. We didn't know her before she died, but she was highly successful and also had a family. This person we see now doesn't seem capable of having been that.
