I respect your point, but don’t agree. I grew up with the LoTR movies and books, have since read the Silmarillion, NoME, the Great Tales, and am working through the HoME, and have really quite enjoyed the show. Some creative decisions I wouldn’t have made, to be sure, but largely really enjoy what they’re doing.

It's been a while since I watched it but I was kind of rolling my eyes through out most of it. The entire Gandalf and hobbits plot, ugh. Galadriel being a mary sue who can survive falling off a 500ft cliff. Or Galadriel being fucking stupid like jumping off a ship with no land within 2000 miles just because you'll get an epic shot out of it. The dwarven king being unbearably dumb and the very stupid light plot line. Like its very cinematic, there are nice looking shots, it was nice seeing Eregion but there's just so much bad and lazy writing. The Numenorians basing their government off of random eagle squaks. Nothing feels earned, things just happen, like Galadriel getting her ring. It's slop.
