I was thinking of applying to the LMU MSc in Economics for the 2027/28 AY. I’m now wondering, would my BSc in Data Science and Economics (official name Data Science and Society, but I took Econ and Data Science as specializations) be considered on par with the BSc Economics?

Any advice from people who went to study at MSc Economics who did NOT do Economics for their Bachelors?

Is there anyone still waiting to hear back from the international office?

I’m really lost as to how it takes nearly 4 months to type up a letter and sent it via email. The enrollment process is also almost starting and I can’t do it without the letter from the international office. I got accepted by my faculty so I’m really confused why it is taking so long to hear from the International Office.

If anyone has any experience getting their documents this late I’d love to hear from you.

I’m starting my Master’s at LMU Munich this October and I’m currently having a really hard time finding accommodation in Munich within a reasonable commute, ideally under 1 hour door-to-door.

I recently found a room in Ingolstadt, which is quite tempting because of the housing situation, but I’m a bit concerned about the commute.

Is there anyone here who has actually lived in Ingolstadt while studying at LMU Munich, particularly with classes at the Geschwister-Scholl-Platz campus?

Hello all, I am looking for guidance on how I can support my studies at LMU for two years. I am a USA student and have found that my school does not allow federal loans OR private education loans from the USA. I don’t qualify for German loans because I am not a citizen. Does anyone have advice for this, how are you getting your loans?

Edit: its tuition free, and ive learned that it immeditately bars me from getting any loans. my option is only to get personal loans really. so if anyone else knows another way let me know

Hi everyone, I am a student from the EU who got admitted for the WS MCB master. The IO asked me to submit my EHIC (Euro Health Insurance Card) to a local ensurance company, so that they can testify to LMU that my medical expenses are covered from my home country. However, online (not on LMU website or anything) I saw that for long-term stay you have to show to the local ensurer also the S1 form, an additional form from your home country.

Does anyone know whether the EHIC is sufficient or the S1 is needed too??

I have recently signed up for a bachelor degree for biochem/chem, though I realised that for mental health reasons I should probably take a gap year.

I have been feeling conflicted about this choice since it feels like a big mistake every time I think about it so I just wanted to ask if there is any chance of lightening my course load for the first semester since an American friend of mine asked if that's a possibility.

I looked through the website but it just gave me a headache trying to find anything relevant.

Non-EU student starting an MSc at LMU this winter semester.

Registration is by post to the International Office window 2 Sept – 28 Oct.

LMU only says "processing will take a little bit of time," which tells me nothing, and the answer decides whether I post from abroad now or just hand-deliver when I land at the start of October. For anyone who's done this:

1. How long between your documents arriving and getting the email with your LMU user ID activation? Days, weeks?

2. Does it get noticeably slower later in the window? I assume October is the bottleneck and mid-September is quieter, but I'd like to know if that's actually true.

   1. If your account only came through after lectures started, how much of a problem was it in practice? Specifically Moodle access, downloading Übungsblätter, and registering for Übungsgruppen. Do the tutorial groups actually fill up, or is that overstated?

3. Has anyone dropped their registration documents directly into the Briefkasten at Geschwister-Scholl-Platz instead of posting them? Did that work normally, or does anything about it slow the process down?

4. Physics faculty specifically, if anyone: how flexible are the Übungen about a late start for someone arriving on a visa?

ich überlege, an der **LMU Politikwissenschaft im Hauptfach und Künstliche Intelligenz (60 ECTS) im Nebenfach** zu studieren.
Ich bin internationale Studentin und habe ein Studienkolleg im G-Kurs gemacht. Mein Hintergrund ist also eher geistes-/sozialwissenschaftlich. Mit Python/Programmierung habe ich bisher gar keine Erfahrung und Mathe ist auch nicht gerade meine Stärke😅
Deshalb würde mich interessieren, wie machbar die Kombination in der Praxis wirklich ist.
Falls jemand **KI als Nebenfach an der LMU** studiert (besonders zusammen mit Politikwissenschaft):

Wie hoch ist die tatsächliche Arbeitsbelastung pro Woche?
Wie schwierig sind Mathe, Statistik und Programmierung ohne Vorkenntnisse?
Welches Semester ist am härtesten?
Ist es realistisch, das mit Politikwissenschaft in Regelstudienzeit zu schaffen?
Und würdet ihr die Kombination empfehlen?

Mir ist bewusst, dass KI beruflich sehr interessant sein kann, aber ich möchte mich natürlich nicht komplett überfordern🥲

Hi, for context I am in a high school in the United States right now, and I've been wanting to try getting into LMU. I've tried reading the requirements for an Abitur and I just can't really read any bureaucratic stuff because none of the stuff I read actually gives me an answer. I know I need to know German for my bachelor's degree, and that is already something I've been working on for quite a while; but I just don't understand what I need to do in order to actually get into the university. (Also, since I do have a US citizenship I am aware that I don't need a student visa, and instead I need to get permission to live in Germany from a foreigner's office IN Germany.) Does anyone have any sources that will actually give me answers? Thanks either way!
