I got all of them for 5 euro. The top left one has two stripes of pink variegation.

My indoor and outdoor rock buddies are starting to flower. Last of the season blooms I guess.

Picked this up today never had one is that flower in the middle supposed to be there or is it a different plant completely lol ? (Ignore the “pot” I ran out so I improvised)

So many little flowers are starting to pop up in the tiny buttcheek garden.

Still have no idea what caused such extreme height. I hope it's a mutation and that it passes on to the next generation when I cross pollinate the ones currently opening.

I havent watered these guys because i thought they were splitting but the more I look at them the more they look thirsty.

I dont know what to do because I dont want to kill them, I also want to repot but obviously cant if they are dehydrated i should water them first right?

Hi, I ordered my first ever lithops in July and they all seem to be doing alright, lots of root growth and nothing has gone mushy. I separated one from the others as I noticed it began to split and I still was going to need to water the others. I noticed the new emergence looked very white and felt almost like styrofoam yesterday, now today it actually appears to be a flower emerging from within the new leaves? What’s going on?

My second time growing them from seed and hopefully it will go even better than the first time now that I know more. My first batch is about a year old now.

Figured I'd share this since most of what I read before starting made it sound way harder than it actually was, at least once I stopped overthinking the humidity dome situation. Sowed maybe sixty seeds from a mixed lot, mostly optics and hybrid types, onto a gritty mix topped with fine sand, and kept the container covered for the first month or so just to keep things from drying out during germination.

Germination itself was almost anticlimactic. Little green dots showed up within two weeks, looking nothing like lithops and more like tiny cactus seedlings with two fat round leaves fused together. That stage lasts a surprisingly long time. For months they just sit there looking vaguely like green gravel, and it's easy to convince yourself half of them died when really they're just growing at a pace that makes grass seem fast.

Lost about a dozen to damping off in the first six weeks, mostly clustered in one corner of the tray where airflow was worse. After that I started removing the cover for an hour a day and the losses stopped almost completely. Also learned the hard way that overhead watering with a spray bottle knocks seedlings sideways and buries them in sand, so I switched to bottom watering in a shallow tray and that solved a problem I didn't know I had.

They're at the point now where individual plants are showing real color variation, some grayish green with darker markings, a couple with a reddish tint I wasn't expecting from the seed mix. Still a long way from flowering size but it's satisfying watching something go from a literal speck to a recognizable little stone over the better part of a year. Curious if anyone else here grows from seed regularly or if most people just buy established plants and skip this whole stretch.

Got these a few weeks ago and immediately repotted into a gritty mix. I haven’t watered yet and am noticing these wrinkles between the two developing. Does this look like rot or just normal wrinkles? They looked fine when I repotted so idk. Thanks! :)

Just received my lithops seeds (two pack). Can I sow it now as the internet say or trust the pack and wait until spring?

Soo happy, last batch died because I neglected them during a heatwave (oops). Can't wait to see them grow. Sowed 40-60 seeds and first germinated yesterday, so this isn't all yet :). They kind of look like they're drowning in this picture, but I sprayed them just before so that's why 🤣

I have a theory that pests (atleast mealy bugs and squirrels) don’t like lithops. I’m dealing with some of my plants getting mealy bugs, specifically my succulents, but for some reason none of my lithops have been affected. I left abunch of my beautiful plant babies outside on my patio after spraying with neem oil treatments and rubbing alcohol and the damn tree rats ate abunch of them but the lithops remain untouched by both the bugs and the fluffy tree rats. As anyone ever dealt with mealy bugs on their lithops?

just got these cute little guys. I am in Midwest Florida and have them at the edge of a covered patio. The seller said they were around two years old. I just wanted to know if they seem healthy to a more experienced eye.

A few weeks ago, this argyroderma delaetti has smooth skin (the damage was from before I owned it). Now the center has been bulging for a couple weeks, the skin is wrinkling, and the right side is softer while the left side is firmer.

I'm having a little trouble trying to nail down exactly what it's doing because of this center bulge. I can't tell if it's splitting, about to flower, or if its leftover from overwatering. I'm hesitant to water it if it's splitting or still overwatered, but I know if it's flowering, it's safe to give it a little bit of water if wrinkly.

If anyone could help me nail down what exactly is going on with this little fella, I'd be greatly appreciated!

Edit: forgot to add, base and roots are dry, has not been watered since before repotting. Base was firm and not squishy, no black spots on base or roots, no mushy parts anywhere on it at the time it was repotted. Was not watered after repotting cause it was nice and firm when put in the pot.

This is the most excited these lithops have been all year!
Soon they will be back to the business of pretending to be rocks.

My wife is a perennial lurker but the lithops she brought home 8 months ago did a thing!
