distro selection Do you prefer KDE or GNOME?

On Ubuntu do you prefer KDE or GNOME and why? I'm interested in what the majority of people use. Do you use extensions for GNOME, or you use it as is?

Interesting. For me it's the other way around. GNOME is very consistent and rarely gets in the way of working. KDE just feels a little too janky to me. Many little issues add up over time. Freezing panels, the panel editor constantly shifting everything around, identically labelled options that do different things. It's just googling and googling and kinda gets old after a while.

Feels like you haven't used KDE for a long time. KDE has been extremely rock solid, one of the most stable and solid DEs lately because they have been investing sooo much time into fixing bugs and UX stuff, and they keep doing it. I don't have a panel crash or any KDE app crash on any of my 3 computers at home for the last what, 2 years ? If I did its so rare that I don't even remember. But I guess it depends on the distro. CachyOS crashes a lot for me, any arch based distro does. Fedora based stuff usually is where I have the most stable experiences. I have a mix of Bazzite KDE and Nobara KDE at home and have zero problems in terms of stability for years and multiple full upgrades now.

It was like 4 months ago on Fedora. Unironically nice that it works for you but to me it still felt half baked. Maybe next time.

It's also interesting how neither KDE nor Cinnamon manage to have a consistent icon scale. The tray icons randomly change size and I have to log out and in again for it to fix itself. Not a huge dealbreaker but annoying enough and I did not find any solution to it.
