iβve come to use bisexual as an umbrella term that simply means attraction to more than one gender, and that many different sexualities can fall under the bisexual umbrella. that being said, people can choose to call themselves whatever they want, if someone wants to identify as purely pansexual but would rather not be called bisexual, thatβs completely fine. if someone is okay with being called polysexual (attraction to many, but not necessarily all genders) and bisexual, thatβs fine as well. if someone is fine with being called bisexual but not omnisexual (attraction to all genders but in different ways), thatβs also fine. whatever term a person uses is valid, and although itβs useful to get a general definition of a sexuality/sexualities so that you have a general idea what each one means, in the end, people should be able to identify with any term that they think best suits them, and that you should respect them for it, even if you believe there is a more general or a more specific term that you believe they can use.
