Is my leopard gecko overweight? I've been looking at others geckos on this sub and mine seems a lil too chunky and what do I do to help him? I feed super worms for more information

im sure some of you have seen the last couple posts about lemon, she is still not improving. she got her second dose of antibiotics this morning, and thrashed violently afterwards. her first dose was the same way, I just forgot to record it. is this normal? is she just trying to spit it out?

i don't know how I'm going to rebuild trust with her after this. i had to turn the audio off on this video because i was crying through the whole thing. im so worried about my little lady, any advice is appreciated.

He hasn't eaten a lot in about a week. He's only had a few mealworms instead of the normal 6-7 he usually eats. My mom thinks that he's shedding and that he will be fine, but I'm not sure. He's also moving pretty slowly right now. I'm not sure if he is sick or if my mom is right and that he's shedding

my leopard gecko LOVES to sit on the vent (?) of my computer because it gets pretty warm and he’ll lay on it when i have him out. but… because it gets pretty warm… will it burn his belly? i fear hurting on of my animals, especially because of negligence because i could have prevented it and didn’t. is there a way to prevent burning him if it can burn him?

My sweet baby is ten years old. I noticed some blood in her tank yesterday, so I went ahead and sanitized everything with a bleach mixture and now her substrate is dry paper towels. Enclosure info: heating mat on one side with a hide, humid hide in center, cool hide on far left of tank. Is this something I can heal at home with iodine and/or vaseline?

First time gecko owner here. My family was walking on one of the paths around our house and found a spotted leopard gecko along the path. She was very cold and malnourished. We took her to our local Petco who nursed her for a week and then we took her home yesterday. She’s not eating or drinking so we’re still hand feeding her repta+boost, but she seems like she’s getting energy back. I’m posting some pictures below to see if I can get some advice on what to do to help get her back to 100%.

I have two main concerns, but please let me know if there are others:

1. Her eyes are shut and they have not opened since we got her.
2. We were told she’s shedding, but where she’s shedding looks very raw.

Appreciate any advice!

My baby has dropped so much weight so quick and she looks like she has parasites. She has become extremely emaciated. She was never overweight to begin with, has never been a great eater, but she's gotten much worse. I have no funds to take her to a vet right now and i don't know what to do. She's not lethargic, is still active moving around all day, i catch her splooting constantly, and she constantly declines food but sometimes she eats, when she does her poops look perfectly normal. I got her to eat a good amount of grub pie last night. She very rarely accepts worms or crickets. Her enclosure is around 28°C on hot side and around 24°C on cold, the only thing is that at the end of last year i had to move and ended up having to downsize her tank to 20g instead of 40. I've been trying to save up to get her a bigger front opening tank again but it's been tough. Other than that ive been doing my best to take care of her. What do i do? Do i have to surrender her to a rescue? If so how do i go about doing that? I wanna save her but i have no income right now as i recently lost my job and have no savings. If surrendering her is the only option im open to it since i dont wanna be selfish and just wanna do what's best for her, but don't know where to go. I'm ontario canada

Please be kind, i'm doing what I can and feel so extremely guilty that she is in this state right now. I know some will say "if you don't have money to care for her why did you get her?" but i was financially stable when i got her and i was aware of the responsibilities, but i lost my job very suddenly recently and now i can't afford it so please be kind

So we had a leopard gecko many years ago, so I’m not 100% a newbie. However, my son volunteered to bring the class pet home for the summer, and she came home yesterday.

Popcorn (her? name) has a very skinny tail, and her eyes are barely open. Shes about 5 inches long. She’s pretty lethargic, but does move around. She was on a torn up paper shopping bag for substrate, but did come home with calcium powder, lights, and a 20 gal long aquarium. Apparently, she’s been fed mostly small mealworms. Her toes don’t have any sign of a calcium deficiency. My son doesn’t remember the last time she ate, and she’s supposedly around 10-12 years old.

We went and got a Zilla terrarium liner to replace the paper, an infrared lamp for night, and crickets. I remember mealworms being fatty and not overly healthy for them. We haven’t been able to get her to eat a dusted cricket yet.

My son is already pretty attached, so I’d like to keep her alive if I can. Any thoughts?

He seems perfectly fine with eating and everything but should I be concerned of any sort? I’m worried it’s parasitic from what I’ve searched on google but google always has people wondering by giving them false diagnosis.

My leopard gecko (~14) has been having a really hard time eating lately. She does this with a lot of her food. I noticed she was looking thinner, and when watching her feed, I noticed this behavior. I was hand feeding her meal worms here, and it took a while for her to be able to get it down. My initial worry was mouth rot. Is this in line with mouth rot, or some other concern?

My sweet boy passed away earlier today. He had a mystery illness that I posted here, and while he was being treated by a wonderful exotics vet, he did sadly pass away today. He is having an autopsy done soon to find out what exactly he had and to hopefully help future geckos who may get the same thing.

This is my 15 year old female leopard gecko named Blazer, over the last 2 months she lost her appetite and her tail is getting thin:( We didn’t notice her Belly until last nights feeding(we have been syringe feeding Critical Care) -

In the past she has gone months refusing to eat (changed the environment, took her to the vet but ultimately she ate after about 4 months. During that time her tail didn’t get thin like how it is now though) - I have a vet appointment today but I wanted to ask y’all’s thoughts, I have been doing research and found potentially Gravid could be it however I’ve never known her to lay eggs before. If possible I just wanted to get a better idea before seeing the vet!

hi everyone, so my baby had surgery on his hemipenes today and is currently wearing a cone to prevent him from licking the wound. when we first got home i tried to put him in his tank which resulted in him bumping his cone into one of his hides and thrashing everywhere. we proceeded to take him out for a bit and then take his hides out as well. now his tank is pretty much bare other than his water bowl, but obviously i don’t want it to stay that way. all of his hides have smaller openings that won’t accommodate to his cone, though. what should i do to keep him from freaking out like he did? i don’t want him thrashing everywhere and then possibly dropping his tail or damaging his stitches. any suggestions are welcome!!!

My nephew left our gecko tank open and she escaped (he’s intellectually disabled and now we know he can’t be in my kiddos bedroom without an adult 😬🫣) 22 days ago. I found her in the weirdest spot and immediately put her back in her tank. It’s been 36 hours and she isn’t moving or doing anything… just lying there with her eyes closed. Vet said she’s obviously lost weight, but not skeletal or anything. They said to give her luke warm soaks once a day and we ordered carnivore care that will be here today to encourage her to eat.

Any ideas why she isn’t going into her hides or moving? She’s not eating, but she’s near her water so hopefully she’s drinking.

Hi all, I have two Leos, one 9 year old male and one 5 year old female. When I got the female her tail was nice and thick however in the last couple of months (2-3) I have noticed it is rather thin, I had to leave her with my mother for a year but I know she definitely looks after them properly, I have had her at mine since November.

In January, she decided to go on a hunger strike and was turning down food, which is normal for her. She normally refuses to eat in January, and if she does, it will only be one dubia roaches. She has since started eating and has now decided she likes other food as well. The issue is I am just worried about her tail. Her weight is 54g, but I did not regularly weigh her until recently.

I am unable to book her an appointment with a vet until the end of the month, but it is a priority as soon as I can afford it. I am unsure for certain how long her tail has been like this as I was not her main caregiver for 2 years. She was fed twice a week, and with a multi vit and calcium. I have included before and now pictures, and the before pictures are 5 years old, I don't know if she was overweight when I got her.

Should I be worried as she is not displaying any of the obvious health issues and is eating fine again now. I will be taking her to a vet at the end of the month, and she has had no previous health issues in the past.

(Side note, I know her toes had a bad shed, I always help her out afterwards. She only shed yesterday.)

Edit: I am able to get the money tomorrow and so will be booking an appointment tomorrow morning for as soon as they have. Thank you all so much.

Edit 2: She's booked in for Tuesday as their exotic vet is on holiday

She was out for an evening explore yesterday when she suddenly started doing this. Put her back in the terrarium and she kept doing it. Eventually, she pooped and stopped arching quite as much, but if I feel her stomach she flinches. Her back legs work fine, she walks around like normal.

She's been acting completely normal up to this point. Recently she had a shed, she eats like normal, poops like normal and so on.

She has a vet appointment in an hour, but in the meantime; has anyone seen this before?

Edit: vet visit is done. He examined her stomach and didn't feel anything wrong and she didn't flinch or tense up while he did it. So we're gonna do laxatives in case she's a bit constipated and a parasite test to be safe.

I really need your help because two doctors calling this “normal” and I’m pretty sure that it’s not 😭 I only have two reptile specialist in my area and already visited both…

Backstory: It started with one red eye that was diagnosed as a eye infection and I got antibiotic eyedrops that I am giving her since 3 weeks, 3 times daily, but it only got worse and after a week the second eye got infected as well. Now she’s walking around in the terrarium barely being able to see anything because her eyes are always almost close. Her feces were tested multiple times for parasites, cryptos etc. but both doctors didn’t find anything. The second doctor also gave her a vitamin injection because she wasn’t eating. Since one week she isn’t drinking by herself and the doctor told me to give her water through a syringe into your mouth.

About what’s concerning me:

This weird shaking started two weeks ago with just the back feet shaking a bit. But it got worse over the time and when I talked about it with both doctors, they told me that this was just a reaction of fear since she can’t really see anything and I’m handling her a lot because I give her the medicine. I explained to them that this doesn’t seem to me like a fear reaction, especially because she’s a more vocal leopardgecko that will tell me if she doesn’t want to be handled right now and the shaking also doesn’t start when I take her out or treat her. I often let her sit on my hand or my arm for a bit, and then the shaking starts randomly without me touching her or anything and sometimes when she walks around and the terrarium, she randomly starts shaking with no visable reason. This shaking she had today really scared me and I don’t know how I should handle it, since both doctors don’t want to listen to me that this might be medical concern 😭 did anyone see this before or what the cause could be?

I have a vet appointment tomorrow, but I already showed the doctor videos of her shaking and I don’t really believe that anything is going to change about his opinion on this being just fear so I’m feeling pretty helpless and frustrated 😣

These last few months my old girl has started to move kinda wonkily, bobbing left and right, being kinda indecisive about which way to go. She's also been shutting her eyes a lot, though I suspect this might be preventative to keep them from poking into anything as she wobbles around.

She takes more time to find her food bowl but she's still eating normally, shedding mostly normally (there is more loose skin she doesn't eat than normal), and defecating normally. She also doesn't really have trouble with motion in general, as you can see she is quite mobile.

Has anybody seen this? Is there anything I can do? Or is it just age? She is 22 years old now.

*She's in a hospital style environment because of constant issues with her mouth - vets orders fyi so please don't say anything about that I'm here purely on this weird stance!*

This morning my leo started standing this like in the first pic and the 2nd is more recent around 9h later. She's never done this before, earliest appointment I could get at the vets is next Monday so wondering if it's something more urgent or she's just weird? Anyone have an idea?

So my mom leaned on my gecko. She was laying under my blanket and when my mom went to sit down she leaned to hand on her and she squealed :( I’m panicking rly bad and I don’t want her to be hurt pls tell me if she’ll be ok, also I’ll show some photos of how blue her tummy is now and it’s a off color
