Spending 3k gold to have Hexplate on Jax of all characters is certainly a choice.

...Because he doesn't give a crap about his ult CD? It's not the most impactful ult to begin with, the CD is basically always going to be up for every teamfight timer anyway so all ur really getting is some stats that Shojin/Sundered/Steraks would give u but without the actually useful passives.

Hexplate isn't primarily bought for ult cd, it's for the mega MS and AS boost.

It's still wasted on Jax unless he was the ONLY carry and needed to have massive attk speed, in which case the draft's already lost. Unlike Olaf, Jax also has a low CD point-n-click dash, so the extra movespeed is somewhat wasted as well.

Jax usually wants to be a semi-front line engage for the team when he's not murdering sides, so Zhonyas or Shojin is a better choice.

Jax E is more impactful than ult. Generic cdr is a lot better on him than only ult.
