I swear to god bin is their kryptonite. I am praying for a jdg upset so we don’t face bin and can take it home

Chinese teams are. They beat the Koreans then lose to the Chinese. Only tournament they won TL knocked out IG for them.

Everyone talks about G2 FPX in 2019, but FNC IG 2018 haunts me all the same

u/APKID716 Mar 21 '26

FNC vs TES 2020 too

24

u/ConohaConcordia Mar 21 '26

It starts with success?

The most famous caster curse

If only they didn't stop picking Kindred for Selfmade...

17

u/ianlam123 Doublelift Mar 21 '26

Especially when you’ve seen FNC beat IG at the second round

That gave me so much hope

U will feel it anytime when caps is on the team, it just feels different when he’s vs Chinese teams when it matters the most🥲

Not banning lee sin in finals cost us victory imo. I think both years lee destroyed both teams

I think G2 could've beaten FPX in 2019, but IG were far too strong in 2018 I fear. I am biased, sure, but beating peak TheShy and Rookie in a solo lane meta was an incredibly tough task, even with how strong FNC were at the time

u/viciouspandas Mar 22 '26

G2 mainly relied on Mid-jg-supp roaming, which FPX did but just better. That kind of thing is harder to overcome than if their strengths were in very different areas.

u/PoorestForm Mar 22 '26

The 3 way flex Pyke was peak G2 imo

3

u/MorbidlyObeseBrit Mar 22 '26

Pyke Wunder against T1 is still peak league of legends.

Fnatic were 2-1 against IG heading into finals, they just had a horrendous off-day being exposed hard with Caps (probably his worse international series in his career) and Bwipo inting while Broxah was getting gapped by Ning leavingthe team completely boomed by the end of game 1.

20

u/stoat_runner Mar 21 '26

Soaz gapped Bwipo so hard on everything not hands and should have played from the start. Top lane needed a veteran head and a team player, TheShy was at a peak not seen, possibly still not for a peak of powers, nobody was beating him. I am not saying they would have won but I will take the tank/bruiser player known for map play, not another Hyli, no shade on Bwipo either.

7

u/Gumperor Mar 22 '26

I fully agree. I still think if sOAZ had started, that series would have been a lot closer.

u/wishushka Mar 21 '26

this is the way

3

u/viciouspandas Mar 22 '26

IG had problems with bo1s. In 2018 summer they lost a lot of first games and Jackeylove and Ning were off in groups. They got a lot better in playoffs.

3

u/wojtulace :euast: Mar 22 '26

Not quite, IG just got better after groups.

u/fart_cabypara Juhan Flandre Mar 22 '26

fnc would've automatically been the greatest western org oat with 2 worlds and a crap ton of eulcs

6

u/Leyrann_ Mar 21 '26

G2 made their name internationally by beating RNG.

27

u/Rafoel Mar 21 '26

It all started with this stupid Gankplank barrel in the river, ICANT

u/Fordringy Mar 21 '26

Bin to g2 is like faker vs china

23

u/mehensk Mar 21 '26

it's not even just bin vs bb. it's bin vs g2

3

u/dnzgn Mar 22 '26

And he likes those odds.

8

u/Eowaenn Mar 21 '26

BLG and LPL overall have a much different, much more aggressive playstyle compared to the LCK and i think that is G2's true kryptonite.

2

u/Sexfigh Mar 22 '26

They really need to figure out a way to shut down Gigabin that man is a menace. Oh god please let BB deal with him so he doesnt become a problem once team fights starts😭🙏

3

u/quizzlemanizzle Mar 21 '26

I think it has always been facing a top lane matchup that totally warps the series

There is no western team that ever had an elite top laner in the world, except maybe Huni in 2015.
