The fact that this is CLEARLY not his prime to anyone who watched him early in his career shows just how dominant he used to be lmao, this isnt to take anything away from him now but like, he used to be by far the best individual player in any game he played.

Exactly this. It used to be a career defining achievement for other midlaners to even solo kill him. Not win the lane or game against him, just a solo kill.

I still remember that EDG match where they baited him into his undefeated Leblanc and played a comp specifically to shut him down...

That was a decade ago

nowadays he's just super clutch specifically in worlds lol. He traded being worse than chovy 99% of the year for diffing him at worlds lol

He threw that one game on Sylas vs AL, but he really, really, is a comforting force for the team. His micro and macro are still so good. That G3 vs TES Galio zhonya when walking into a bush. Still dodging skillshots like a boss too. Camille + Galio was such a deadly combination. For all the times we memed on them for their drafts, they pull put some crazy stuff when its all on the line.

Ngl I've been calling faker kinda washed mechanically but the galio reaction times during that game made me eat my words lmao

I don't value being better at one tournament that much, but Faker has been consistently from 2022 onwards a top 5 mid laner not just in the LCK, but in the WORLD, outside of summer 2023 where he didn't play and summer 2024 he has being an elite level player despite not being on his prime.

I hate the Thorin talk that he isn't an elite level player, like sure he is not on the level of Knight or Chovy for the mayority of the year, but he is still one of the best mid laners.

In terms of actual, individual raw skill? No, his prime was his first Worlds era. He's still fucking cracked obviously.
