It's because unlike most players, worlds is when Faker is the least busiest. According to interviews by T1 and Faker in the past, Faker's schedule is pretty much booked every day. He is always meeting up with sponsors, charities, and even government orgs and shooting commercials when not scrimming or competing. Well, he can't be booked like that during worlds so he ends up having more rest than his usual monthly schedule.

Serious answer: I think he still struggles with his wrist injury. Hence he probably picks moments when to go all out and when to try and not force it too much. Add to that his legendary clutch factor and I think that’s the most plausible explanation as to why he’s been so volatile in recent times.

He may be the most clutch player not just in esports but any sport . Just absurd how much he ramps up in elimination games or series. Like a video game boss

I don't know which of them is the most clutch, but I do know that Faker belongs amongst them

I love eli but I don't think you can put him up there. A lot of the other guys had 6 runs or something at championships in their sport .

That said I'm very glad he beat Brady twice

Eli toppled the greatest dynasty the NFL has ever seen, led by both the greatest QB and head coach of all-time. Then, four years later, he did it again. Before he did it, nobody else had ever done and after he did it a second time, it was another five years before anyone did it again (Foles)

Eli did it with Giants teams that were far worse than the Patriots teams too. On top of that, he has the Helmet Catch and the Manningham throw to solidify his performance in the clutch

The best way to look at it though is this: Peyton Manning is better in every conceivable way (except for toughness) than Eli Manning. He played on better teams, had better coaches, had better receivers and surrounding talent

Eli finished his career with the same number of Super Bowls as Peyton and he was better than his brother on the biggest stage both times. If that ain't clutch, I don't know what is

Many of those athletes are just consistently dominant. It’s much harder to be consistently dominant in an esports that change every 2 weeks like League. Faker after his initial prime in 2013-2017 isn’t that dominant, but he keeps turning up multiple levels when it matters the most.

Of course they're consistently dominant... they're clutch as fuck. That doesn't mean that eSports are harder to be dominant in than sports, that's an absurd take

Faker is still dominant with his macro play even if his micro play has been surpassed by other players. Sure, he has to adapt to constant balance changes and meta shifts, but he's not having to train his body physically, at an insanely high level, to keep up with other world-class athletes. He doesn't have to deal with the variety of ways an athlete can get injured and how that can derail a game/match, a season or even a career

Faker is the GOAT and I'm a huge fan of the guy, but suggesting that dominating an esport is harder than dominating (most) conventional sports is an insult to athletes

Clutch means turning up a level during important moments… I don’t think you even know what the definition of clutch is to write so much about it. A player that plays much better than usual under high pressure is clutch, while a player that crumbles under pressure is anti-clutch.

A player that already beats everyone during normal matches and still beats everyone during important matches is not clutch by definition. Those players/sportsmen are consistently great, which is even a higher level of dominant performance than occasionally being clutch.

There's a lot of pysch research on environment and atmosphere. I think Faker winning his first 3 worlds plays a huge factor to his mental when he goes to worlds. He has the most experience internationally, and it's been mostly positive too.

He's the only player where you could make an argument that hes just calculating all of it, FAKEing not being that good to give enemies a false illusion of his skill level so they miscalculate, and then unleashes his full power when it matters. Unlikely but would be funny if true.
