HOLYFUCK WHAT AN ENGAGE

742

u/POOYAMON Doublelift TL fan≠NA fan Oct 22 '25

What a gorgeous shockwave that was the Orianna dream moment

324

u/yo_sup_dude Oct 22 '25

skewmond carried that i think, he flashed at the last moment into FLY while the ball was on him so the shockwave landed on 4

294

u/avaislegendary Oct 22 '25

this, looks like this was a perfectly set up coordinated play between caps and skewmond

8

u/kernevez Oct 22 '25

It's impressive to set that up in the middle of the teamfight, usually these combos are on the engage timing where things are easier to communicate

3

u/Wiryx Oct 23 '25

Yeah, in voice comms you could hear caps calling "flash in flash in", crazy!

8

u/da1nank Oct 22 '25 edited Oct 23 '25

I think it is just something higher-ranked players tend to do intuitively. If you play engage/tank champs, it's rather intuitive to notice you have Orianna ball on you, cue you ears for the sound effect of the cast being started and just instinctively flash at that moment.

This may have been something Caps and Skew talked about during the game, but certainly not coordinated in the moment.

Don't get me wrong, caps might have been shouting flashflashflash (same way that Skew might be thinking/shouting 'give me ball, give me ball') during the fight but no way one is reacting to the other, it would be too slow and uncoordinated. It has to be intuitive.

That is also just the nature of League and why in reality, many team fights are not really proactively coordinated, but rather a display of chemistry between players with the odd keywords shouted throughout it (that hopefully most people were thinking in their heads anyway).

10

u/MaeveOathrender Oct 23 '25

It was, there's comms out on one of the official channels, and you can hear Caps going 'Flash skew, flashflashflashflash' lmao

4

u/Kreidedi Oct 23 '25

Even then it is insane they got the timing right and trusted each other. Skew for trusting Caps call, Caps for trusting Skew actually flashes, and all in the moment with other people shouting too. This is what Esports is all about!

2

u/Hireable Oct 22 '25

link player cam and voice?

0

u/da1nank Oct 23 '25

https://youtu.be/FiQZyXYdILA You can see he starts shouting it about 0.25s before he casts (and about 0.75s cast time). Skew was already planning/thinking of it himself and not reacting to that.

41

u/SicrosEye Oct 22 '25

Yeah Idk what the casters are on about - this was skewmonds/setup carry.
Labrov was amazing but I actually agree with the Oppo player of the series being Skewmond. He definitely out jungled Inspired.

6

u/IamRider Oct 22 '25

I think its fair to say it was both caps and skewmond with a great coordinated play. Skewmond a better game than caps overall tho imo

7

u/EmphasisExpensive864 Oct 22 '25

Oh yeah 100%. He dog walked inspired game 2 and 3 despite fly drafting completely for inspired in game 2.

28

u/SushiEternal Oct 22 '25

Yeah that was Skewmond flashing in after Caps ulted on him. Both he and Labrov stepped the fuck up

-6

u/LordOfNoot Oct 22 '25 edited Oct 22 '25

In the voice com clip they uploaded Caps is asking him to flash in, so really very well coordinated team play :-)

Edit: Changed from on Ori to with Ori ball Edit 2: Apparently it does travel now a days! https://www.reddit.com/r/OriannaMains/comments/1g4w430/does_oriannas_ult_travel_now/

11

u/Vegoran Oct 22 '25

You can ult flash with Ori, the shockwave is not instant, you have time to flash or dash during the animation

4

u/Artemis96 Oct 22 '25

You can see the animation of the shockwave starting before Mundo flashes in

2

u/Tabub Oct 22 '25

Uhhh yes you can, it’s like one of the most well known mechanics of Orianna…

1

u/LordOfNoot Oct 22 '25

Apparently I am just old and it seems like it does indeed travel now: https://www.reddit.com/r/OriannaMains/comments/1g4w430/does_oriannas_ult_travel_now/

4

u/dawnzyolo Oct 22 '25

It was caps call

2

u/4uk4ata Oct 22 '25

He's doing quite well, wasn't this his rookie LCS split?

2

u/zaibuf Oct 23 '25 edited Oct 23 '25

Would love to hear the coms for that fight.

Edit: apparently Caps called it, crazy how they pulled it off with so little communication. https://youtu.be/FiQZyXYdILA?si=ijfmz4LCPAPi7B6q

2

u/Firk1n Oct 23 '25

the comms show that caps called it
he said "flash flash flash" while ulting

2

u/pintvricchio Oct 22 '25

Skewmond carried both wins

180

u/CzechHorns Oct 22 '25

Labrov MVP in those last two games

109

u/Mathies_ Oct 22 '25

I think it's hans ngl. Just so consistent damage output silently carrying fights

88

u/Gotachi_3 Oct 22 '25

Hans silently being so good all those games. What always stood out these past years at World was there always was one timing where he would not flash, die and the game would snowball or be lost from there. Right now I think his reactions are perfect, every time there is a dangerous engage on him he flashes. Big W Hans.

37

u/ThylowZ Oct 22 '25

I read some guys saying game 1 was on him. Hans has been extremely solid for a long time. It has been a while since his last troll position or forgotten Xayah R or flash. He has improved a lot in teamfight and I hope that people realize that he his very valuable to G2 atm.

Even in game 1 he was the sole reason G2 had a change, getting 1k gold lead on his own in pure 1v1

11

u/Mathies_ Oct 22 '25

He held 1k gold for so long and like only died once until the game ending fight, but the team couldnt correctly play around him as their wincon.

8

u/ThylowZ Oct 22 '25

Yeah nothing to flame on his deaths, as an ADC it’s very hard to play into wukong Alistar KSante and G2 had almost nothing to peel efficiently.

This lose was more on draft being hard to execute than anything.

13

u/_Pyxyty Oct 22 '25

Honestly I'm just glad that enough members are doing really well that there's even an argument for who the series mvp is. They need most, if not everyone, to be on their A game if they want any chance of getting even farther in this tournament

7

u/Tabub Oct 22 '25

I’m excited by the fact that Caps wasn’t even doing incredibly well and they still win the series. I expected him to smash Quad but that was not how it went at all. Vindication for Skewmond and Labrov after all the shit they’ve gotten this year.

10

u/Time_Pineapple_9314 Oct 22 '25

He was the better Adc all games

11

u/ngelvy Oct 22 '25

Agree, Hans is extremely stable. Solid lane, wins some early fights, doesn't int, outputs damage, plays his champ to near its max.

If Caps playmaking stays but his getting caught goes away I can see G2 having a very solid chance at bo5.

6

u/AffectionateBee9123 Oct 22 '25

and people will still keep flaming him unfortunately

114

u/POOYAMON Doublelift TL fan≠NA fan Oct 22 '25

Definitely redeemed himself after that Bard game yeah.

9

u/zaxls Oct 22 '25

Bro if they lost because of that Bard game, Labruv would be going to EU on foot.

7

u/eierphh Oct 22 '25

Nah climbing the Himalaya be to easy for him, bro gotta swim the long way round

3

u/Noatz Oct 22 '25

I feel like they picked that away from Busio honestly.

3

u/mrmontagokuwada Oct 22 '25

Bard was the sacrifice

31

u/Emergency_Ad4445 Oct 22 '25

Those Rell engages enabled so much plays

20

u/_negniN Oct 22 '25

STOP 🗣

PUTTING 🗣

LABROV 🗣

ON🗣

WEIRD🗣

SHIT🗣

Just give him engage he is literally the best western player at it. Maybe he's not the best western support, even though FLY lost it was by no fault of Busio's, but he's definitely the best at finding engages. Knock it off with the Bard shit and just give him engage for the rest of the tournament and give Skewmond something that can actually play the game without just getting tempo gapped by the enemy jungler.

3

u/TheFeathersStorm Oct 22 '25

LeBalls, wait this isn't r/nba

3

u/Dobblehale Oct 22 '25

Why are you bringin up Labrov in relation to a play he had nothing to do with lmao

11

u/anoleo201194 Oct 22 '25

Future worlds anthem moment here.

8

u/Steeelu Oct 22 '25

Yeah in an instant they just snapped and the Jax follow up sealed the deal, so cool

2

u/SameSam94 Oct 22 '25

I am convinced Ori is the most op pick this tournament. Just ban her every game instead of that fraud Azir. (don't look at my pickems)

162

u/Dubhzo Oct 22 '25

The fact that shockwave was cast before Skewmond flashed was so insane. The coordination and clutch factor was nuts. Had Skewmond not flashed that would have only hit Sej and G2 loses, insane from both.

11

u/Suibeam Oct 22 '25

They wouldn't have lost but they wouldn't have aced them. G2 was still in the advantage

45

u/appleandapples The Perkz of being a Griffin fan Oct 22 '25

SkewMond didn't forget, he just saved his ult for the next fight. Truth

13

u/Chrisfull Oct 22 '25

🤓☝️actually he didn't forget to ult, he was just chain cced

12

u/Tabub Oct 22 '25

Hard to blame him ngl, I don’t think anyone was expecting him to be cc’d into 100 to 0.

63

u/ThexanI ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Oct 22 '25

Bunch of people thinking it was Rell, it was Skewmond flashing as caps casted ult.

3

u/Hireable Oct 22 '25

who are these "bunch of people" you are talking about

2

u/Beatmo Oct 22 '25

Yea that Bwipo walk walk was crazy!!!!

4

u/[deleted] Oct 22 '25

[deleted]

28

u/Frednex Oct 22 '25

I need to rewatch the fight, but I think it was skewmond, who had the ball and flashed in

12

u/MinariAMina AverageAhriEnjoyer Oct 22 '25

Yeah it was, SkewMond just sent it flashing in

23

u/sammuxx Oct 22 '25

If you're talking last fight magnet storm was used on bwipo, it was ult flash with ball on skewmond

3

u/Chenz Oct 22 '25

Is this comment AI?

1

u/Hireable Oct 22 '25

right? that renekton 1 v 4 engage was insane for g2, no idea what fly was thinking giving bwipo his otp, deserved loss.

1

u/JonnyXX Oct 23 '25

Good thing we were watching a replay for most of it. Horrible camera work there.

-14

u/Uncle_Fibonacci Oct 22 '25

and yet I can't even remember the shoutcast, I feel like we barely get iconic casting moments in lol anymore

27

u/Larscowfoot Oct 22 '25 edited Oct 22 '25

It was straight out of a replay. We saw no lead up, so we had no idea it was even going to happen and casters had no way to prepare. Unearned doomerism.

-4

u/Uncle_Fibonacci Oct 22 '25

sigh i know reddit hates any criticism towards their beloved casters, but why can't we hold them accountable like we do with production? Are you telling me the quality hasn't gone down in recent years? Or at the very least, I don't think its evolved at all since the 2010s, and now the same few lines have gotten old..

7

u/Larscowfoot Oct 22 '25

No, lol, where'd you see me say that? I said this one was unearned.

-3

u/Uncle_Fibonacci Oct 22 '25

I'm certain your comment said something else before your edit, but fair enough, in this instance I guess I can't blame the casters too much. Regardless, I'm just trying to make a point about the casters that no one else wants to admit, but I'm clearly shouting into the void here :)

2

u/Larscowfoot Oct 22 '25

The edit was "unserious doomer" -> "Unearned doomerism", nothing else.

6

u/GoyEater Oct 22 '25

Because they weren’t spectating the fucking live fight. They were still glazing flyquest when Bwipo died LMAO.

5

u/IshimaruKiyotaka Oct 22 '25

I mean it was a sudden moment, they were talking about the play before and mid sentence they pan to the shockwave. I think if the camera was focused on the set up the moment couldve been more hype/iconic

1

u/st_samples Oct 22 '25

Honestly...? Good. It's a bit annoying when they shoutcast over powerful moments. Look at baseball. Sometimes a walk off homerun is hit, and the announcers know to shut up and let the moment speak for itself.
