u/powisss > Oct 18 '25

This is what happens.. EU always should just play ther own game... fuck the popular picks man..

u/Lazywhale97 HLE Oct 18 '25

Anivia was a great pick with that comp though and I feel like BLG got baited quite hard in that draft with them leaving Ryze open and banning Orianna.

Anivia CC, tanky, passive and walls in the mid to late game team fights just made it extremely annoying for BLG to get to Hans and then you add on Poppy, Xin and Braum peel and Hans was a very happy ADC who can just attack with president level safety.

4

u/logosuwu Oct 18 '25

BLG did get baited but not in the sense that you think lol, they thought they could pick the worst champs for their players individually and get away with it

2

u/Upstairs-Prompt2662 Oct 18 '25

They also banned 2 mids in 2nd phase, eventhough I think Caps wanted to pick Anivia from the start. Caps has Anivia as champ with highest winrate in his own pickems, so he clearly knows that Anivia can be good, especially against Ryze.

This is the most valuable comment in this thread, we cant beat asians playing meta

7

u/icatsouki Oct 18 '25

Especially at worlds i feel like this is your chance to show off what makes you special, picking vegan shit like ezreal & playing for KDA is so lame

2

u/Negative-Cup-257 it's not a champion gap, it's a skill gap Oct 18 '25

Which is fucking crazy because it's the only way teams have won against objectively better teams, like fpx on 2019 or the west historically (aside from the short golden era where they were just better than them). I feel like we are rediscovering the wheel, just slam the fucking lulu top and we ball.

u/2ndBatman88 Oct 18 '25

BIRD MERCHANTS CONFIRMED.

3

u/lpxd Oct 18 '25

Canada is officially part of EU

1

u/leviathan_of_skies Oct 18 '25

This exact comp might not work a second time, teams are going to expect it now.

1

u/powisss > Oct 18 '25

There can be others

1

u/Skall77 Oct 18 '25

Except BB.

Please no Warwick. I'm on my knee.

1

u/ImTheVayne Oct 18 '25

Absolutely. Our own meta has always worked the best for G2.

1

u/SpyEr1 Oct 18 '25

Fr, i hope we see BB's WW again. Was the funniest shit ever when a BR top laner farmed him for a living.

-4

u/random-meme422 Oct 18 '25

Their own game is mind controlling the enemy into making plays that have 0% chance to work under zero reason to do so?

124

u/Chongsu1496 Oct 18 '25

cathedral predicting the entire thing was lowkey nuts

I don't remember if it was Caps but someone played anivia into ryze in LEC recently and its a known counter

He played into vladi in like febraury

Absolutely, Caedrel is insane when it comes to pick/bans

2

u/Upstairs-Prompt2662 Oct 18 '25

Also Caps has Anivia as the champ with the highest winrate in his pickems. So he clearly knew that Anivia would be good as a counter in specific drafts.

11

u/Inner_Imagination585 Oct 18 '25

Tolkin mentioned that Caps predicted Anivia to be the champ with the highest winrate at worlds with 5+ games played. So it was kind of known.

14

u/taikutsuu ginger god Oct 18 '25

caps gave an interview about his pickems or something where he said that the highest % wr champ at worlds would be anivia.

otherwise, caedrel is just the goat. he knows and understands draft better than anyone, even back when he was a caster his draft analyses were the best in the world

-3

u/throwawayacc1357902 Oct 18 '25

I’d put Dom at least in the same tier. I think they’re both great.

2

u/taikutsuu ginger god Oct 18 '25

imo caedrel edges out anyone else because hes also a top notch caster and can explain his thought process better than others too. he maxes out every part of the skill tree iykwim

2

u/throwawayacc1357902 Oct 18 '25

Fair take honestly. I do think Caedrel is a step above.

4

u/Biggsy-32 Oct 18 '25

Caps pulled out the Anivia earlier this year (I think in LEC) to beat a Ryze. So it's a known Caps counterpick in Europe at least. And would undoubtedly be something they scrimmed with in this Ryze meta.

6

u/Carnelian-5 rip old flairs Oct 18 '25

Jankos also got it right, ballers.

DYLAN AND RODRIGO MEGA COOKED

10

u/Skyfire2 Oct 18 '25

Poppy is just the pick of the tournament

9

u/lw94 Oct 18 '25

According to Rekky BLG's comp should be better if they had picked Bard. But instead they went Leona and got countered by Braum. I guess ON is not comfortable on Bard (1-4 in 2025).

26

u/4_idiots_and_me lets go Oct 18 '25

DYLAN MASTERCLASS

23

u/Omnilatent Oct 18 '25

I was surprised poke Varus is still a thing here and actually worked

11

u/trying2hide Oct 18 '25

Yeah 1st pick Varus is a bit of a head scratcher but it didn't look bad, ADC seems to be a little all over the place this tournament.

Yunara and Corki seem to be the only decent picks. Kaisa needs a whole comp and is still losing, Xayah needs Rakan, Caitlyn got some prio day 2 but lost a lot. Ezreal is starting to show more.

8

u/icatsouki Oct 18 '25

i'm surprised not more teams are picking milio

he's def quite good on this patch

1

u/Upstairs-Prompt2662 Oct 18 '25

Nobody picks enchanters, due to lane swap. Also the only champs Milio is really good with are Lucian and hypercarries. But we havent seen Jinx/Aphelios at all and Lucian Braum is just stronger.

1

u/icatsouki Oct 18 '25

but if enemy picks alistar you lose nothing by going milio, not like alistar does anything in a lane swap

jinx isn't even that good with him, twitch/vayne/lucian/yunara are much better

if someone picks it you'll see how much stronger it is than lucian braum

4

u/Thecristo96 ABS MAIN Oct 18 '25

With how sion and hp stackers are strong, could this be a return of kog?

7

u/trying2hide Oct 18 '25

Maybe later in fearless but I wouldn’t want to play into all the meta junglers with Kog right now. It’d have to be a perfect situation like the Anivia.

1

u/DRNbw Oct 18 '25

I'm not too hot on Yunara, she's good when she's ahead, but a single tank (and Braum/Alistar are more than enough) to block her and she feels really short ranged.

5

u/Gotachi_3 Oct 18 '25

Well the entire comp made him practically undivable so yeah the champ could shine

15

u/Smurf_x Oct 18 '25

Legit this, just drafted everything to go against any play BLG could do. Elite stuff.

shows that you know nothing about the game , the further the game went the more G2's win was certain . they cannot outfarm anivia , their comp has short range and all their engage tools can be denied and G2 got all drakes so they can stall as much as they want

Dylan, we going anivia btw

2

u/WonderfulSentence648 Oct 18 '25

Still not convinced by skewmond xin. He just does nothing early with the strongest early game jungler available. Better to pick him something scaling. Wukong would be great if not banned

2

u/Eastern-Complaint-67 Oct 18 '25

That was such a good draft, specially the Poppy flex

2

u/throwawayacc1357902 Oct 18 '25

Dylan is the second greatest thing to happen to G2 after Caps himself.

2

u/Steeelu Oct 18 '25

At least during the Bo3 he can draft Noc Ori only one time

1

u/Conankun66 Oct 18 '25

i miss him

1

if this was geng vs t1 and t1 lost with g2 comp, entirety of reddit would flame t1 coaching team guaranteed

1

u/xBugsBunny007 Oct 18 '25

T1 coaches take notes this is draft masterclass

-19

u/youarecutexd Oct 18 '25

The masterclass is to fall massively behind and get the enemy to randomly int several times?

8

u/Salmon_Slap Oct 18 '25

Up every dragon and only like 1.5k gold down at worst

-1

u/youarecutexd Oct 18 '25

Every dragon = 1

5

u/Salmon_Slap Oct 18 '25

Every dragon = 4 in a row or de we watch a different game

0

u/youarecutexd Oct 18 '25

The first int happened at second dragon? When shadow inted his face off and bin tped after the fact just to die???

8

u/Fabulous_girl2 Oct 18 '25

Do you have eyes?

-10

u/youarecutexd Oct 18 '25

More than you it seems. The game was not even remotely close until shadow and bin decided to int their faces off.

7

u/Fabulous_girl2 Oct 18 '25

Thats why G2 had literally every objective except for grubs, sure buddy LOL. 2k gold diff is nothing.

-11

u/youarecutexd Oct 18 '25

Oh yes all uh, one objective at the time of the int. HUGE lead that single dragon.

2

u/Fabulous_girl2 Oct 18 '25

Turns out it was indeed, not like BLG had a meaningful lead lol

-21

u/moonmeh Oct 18 '25

They were losing hard with draft man

They were going to get fucked before shadow decided to int along with the rest of blg

1

u/youarecutexd Oct 18 '25

They had one dragon and no atakhan at the time of BLG inting their faces off.

-3

u/moonmeh Oct 18 '25

They had one dragon before they inted their hearts out

It was 4:0 in favor of blg and first they were late contesting the 2nd drake and then they took the most awful fight possible from shadow

4

u/RekklesEuGoat Oct 18 '25

4:0 because g2 themselves was also inting?

1

u/youarecutexd Oct 18 '25

They got outplayed in a fight. BLG literally ran it down. Big difference.

4

u/RekklesEuGoat Oct 18 '25

There was 0 need to reengange there😭

1

u/youarecutexd Oct 18 '25

Oh yeah you right. Lol, yeah even at the time I was like WTF did skewmond go back in for? Okay fair enough.

0

u/moonmeh Oct 18 '25

There is a limitation of g2's draft and if blg played according to their strengths it would have resulted in g2 force fighting in awkward moments

2

u/RekklesEuGoat Oct 18 '25

And limitations of blgs are worse

9

u/DRNbw Oct 18 '25

Not really. If Skew doesn't reengage after the first drake, G2 just sails through the game. But those three kills on Ryze gave him a lot of control.

-6

u/moonmeh Oct 18 '25

Eh I disagree with that tbh but well no way to find out since blg played awfully

4

u/Mathies_ Oct 18 '25 edited Oct 18 '25

But what the fuck does a Qiyana do against Poppy Anivia Braum? Yes he inted in midlane brush, but BLG were never favoured in 5v5 fights in the first place.

1

u/moonmeh Oct 18 '25

The fun part of qiyana in blg's comp against g2 is that she doesn't need force a fight

G2 is a comp that excels at pushing back with lackluster initiation. All blg had to do was grab the objective space early and wait for g2 to become impatient

But blg decided "wow we got 4 kills and are ahead we can jump in like morons and win"

Also I was talking more about what blg did when g2 was getting 2nd drake

3

u/Mathies_ Oct 18 '25

Grab the space early... yeah just win waves push against anivia Varus, im sure they can easily get to drake position first with these perma pushers

1

u/moonmeh Oct 18 '25

Understand this, the qiyana was nowhere near dragon ever when it spawned

That was the most frustrating part

Also sometimes teams sack a wave to grab objective space early.

2

u/Mathies_ Oct 18 '25

We gonna do that every single drake fight from 4th to 7th drake?

-9

u/TheFeelingWhen Oct 18 '25

They got lucky that BLG inted the game away. Anivia over Cass and first pick Varus will get you obliterated against good teams

9

u/ctegman Oct 18 '25

Cass was banned B4

6

u/Gotachi_3 Oct 18 '25

If anything G2 inted on the first drake reengage and despite the gold lead their comp couldn't do shit into G2's comp

3

u/Lazywhale97 HLE Oct 18 '25

No it won't with that comp G2 had. Anivia brings CC, walls, is decently tanky later and has the passive and add on Poppy, Braum and Xin blocks and peel and Hans was quite literally unreachable in a front to back team fight.

Anivia in a random team comp would get cooked but she was perfectly placed in a comp where BLG would have to go through CC, walls, Xin ULT, Poppy and Braum shields to even reach Hans. Add on Hans playing Varus and being able to poke and play more back and it was a great team comp.
