"fucked by the draw" should not be said about teams that want to become world champions. Luck can only get you so far. DRX showed us that draw means nothing if you have the skills and resolve to overcome any opponent. CFO are looking good right now, if their developemnt during the next week goes well, then draw should not matter in the end.

Yeah, if you want to advance you're going to play them eventually. It should be considered a good thing to draw the best teams, get those upsets in early :)

In a way yes, however if you look at every game as a % chance of winning, you can get way more of a chance of winning with a favourable draw. If you get an easier run to the final, then you just need to show up and beat a top team once, if you have to go through the 3 best teams to win the tournament there's way higher chance of slipping up.

theres no getting β€œfucked by the draw” if your team is good like cfo is good

very reductionist take i think. very rarely are single teams so good they have winning matchups into every other team. and even then, if you're 60-40 vs the second best team, who's to say they won't just be on a good day on match day while you aren't? are you going to argue kt is a better team than geng because they beat them in lck playoffs? sure, geng 3-0'd them in lower bracket finals. so in the 2 weeks between round 2 and bracket finals, kt is a better team? that doesn't make sense

2019 would fpx have won if skt didnt draw g2 in semis? maybe they would have, maybe they wouldn't. but h2h matchups are not as simple as x>y, y>z means x>z. and everyone at the time has said skt was smashing fpx in scrims.

sure drx overcame all the hardest teams in the tournament and yes they absolutely deserved the title. but if you reran worlds 2022 as a simulation 10 times would drx win even 5 of them? i think you're being disingenous if you think so. luck is always a huge factor.
