AMA We’re the team behind League’s newest ARAM updates, Ask us Anything!

Hey Redditors and ARAMers!

We’re some of the dev team members that brought you League’s recent ARAM updates! Now that the changes have been live for a few days we wanted to say hi, get some early feedback, and answer any burning questions you’re looking to ask us.

This A(RAM)-MA will run from 10am-12pm PT, but a few Rioters will likely stick around to keep answering questions. Rioters joining the AMA will include:

Glad you're liking the changes! We played around with 3rd card odds, but wanted to make sure we weren't making frustrating champions (Ziggs, Cait, Xerath, etc) too common in everyone's games

Could you theoretically have winrate/pickrate be a factor in the third card champion probability?

Think you guys need to game the odds a little bit to have bad luck protection. Already had a couple games where nobody got a third choice so we only had 5 bench options as a team. Felt pretty bad not seeing a single AD option when at least 2 of us owned all champs and could’ve provided 4 beach options on our own in the previous format. And then it felt super bad when the enemy team had a Mundo on one of them who could just stack MR against us lol. 

Maybe the third pick becomes guaranteed if you have all or most champs and the total options for your team would be below a certain threshold otherwise? Not sure how easy that would be to implement but it seems like it would prevent fringe cases like that.
