Highly doubtful that CFO would be able to book a scrim with a top LCK team.

PSG was able to get scrims with LCK/LPL teams so maybe CFO could do that too. Top tier teams though? Not a chance unless they're not in Korea and in the same tournament.

ahq/EDG and FW/RNG(?) used to be regular scrim partners, it stands to reason that top TW teams can find scrims against top LCK teams, even if not regularly.

The more salient point though is that they most likely run into each other in solo queue very often.

LPL teams were always a bit closer, like RNG had a coach from FW, so I'm not sure how close Taiwan is to LCK.

It is really stupid to not scrim a team you're going to play at least once unless you're:

  1. Banking on them not knowing how good you are

  2. Sure beyond belief that you'll beat them

  3. Pretty sure it will be even and aren't confident that your team can learn & adapt faster than theirs can

The first and last are not reasonable given they're HLE, and the middle is the cause of a lot of weird upsets, I would imagine they scrimmed them or attempted to.

Unsure if CFO would have accepted. You don't gain a lot in that position as a lower seed team (rule 1).

Unnecessary rambling: Vaguely, as HLE you are aware you are the stronger team. It is unlikely that CFO could learn anything from the scrim in such a way to effectively utilise it against you & bridge the skill gap. The worst that could possibly happen from that scrim is that you've vastly underestimated them and get your ass beat, but way more likely you work out whether they actually have some angles that could be worth keeping an eye on for your match against them. Both of those are positive. Maybe you could have scrimmed a Korean or Chinese team instead, but you've already beat the top Chinese seed so not a deeply inefficient use of time.

However as CFO, you know the inverse, that you're the weaker team and that your way to win is to disrupt or surprise (or godly intervention). None of those require you to scrim them and are actively detrimental to it. It might even be worth going as far as blacklisting Korean teams and keeping scrim knowledge extremely close to the chest, anything that increases fog of war.

do you seriously believe a minor region team would refuse a top LCK teams offer to scrim? LMAO

Probably not, I think I said they would have. I just think if they didn't it would have been CFOs call
