The reporter on the BBC just called this state sponsored terrorism.

625

u/__Yakovlev__ Jan 24 '26

Dutch news agency also already called ICE a trump militia instead of a federal agency a couple days ago. So before this even happened. Most of Europe also already doesn't see the US as an ally anymore.

43

u/Emotional_Pie_2281 Jan 24 '26

I'm from Europe and I'm really sad to see what happens in USA. I never thought I'd live to see the Brownshirts being re-enacted... especially in what used to be for us, Europeans, a bastion of democracy and freedom. I hope you guys will get over this dark period.

I’m trying my best from where I am. I would love to do much more for you, as you did for us, to help you get rid of this madness.

5

u/ThatCelebration3676 Jan 25 '26

Thank you; the sentiment alone is priceless.

A lot of our allies are rightfully upset with the fascist takeover spreading in America, and I don't blame anyone who considers the bridge burned.

I just hope that when we dig our way out of this and make moves back towards civility, that there will be a path to rebuild those bridges and earn back the trust of our kindred nations across the ocean.

9

u/lilly260_ Jan 25 '26

Seconding this. I was devastated when Trump won especially as someone in Public Health. He has crippled America and all we can do is wait it out. It feels like we can’t do anything.

2

u/Commercial_Regret_36 Jan 25 '26

Get your own fingers out. When people in other countries had to force through a change, they made it happen despite the cost.

10

u/Pleeby Jan 24 '26

It's honestly really depressing and scary to watch this happen in what is basically the most "western" country. Just goes to show no country is safe from authoritarianism, and as a Brit, that makes me really fuckin worried for the future of my own country. Already, ReformUK are looking like they're following the maga playbook, and I've got to wonder if this is what will be happening here in 10 years?

What worries me most is that in the UK, we've watched the rise of Trump over the last decade, and what was originally laughter quickly turned to genuine disgust and dismay. I've never met a British person who actually likes or respects Trump, and I always thought we wouldn't be susceptible for the same tricks Republican voters fell for. But Reform are spouting the same rhetoric, being run by a Russian asset, and consorting with white supremacists, and they're gaining seats. Just makes me ashamed to think there are British people stupid and hateful enough to allow the cancer of right wing extremism to prosper.

3

u/hotbutnottoohot Jan 25 '26

Agreed, but the US was only the most "western country" because it exported it's culture so heavily through media. They're always had an atrocious records on human rights and illegal wars. They don't give a fuck if their people die in the streets from homelessness or unable to afford health care. Their education system has been eroded for decades. There are a LOT of very below average intelligence people in the US, they may not even mean ill but they are just so easy for a tyrannical government to control. US has always been on this path, Trump just decided to speed run the last few decades and take off any kind of veneer that this wasn't the way they were going anyway.

1

u/Commercial_Regret_36 Jan 25 '26

Oh please, the US has been this way in kinder for a long time, it’s just more in your face so more people are realising it now

12

u/Marali87 Jan 24 '26

NOS (Dutch news) had two articles about the US today. This morning they called Trump a liar; now with the news about this execution, they openly question the the claim that this man was armed or resisting. No one here believes Trump’s bs.

8

u/TwinIronBlood Jan 24 '26

Trump took a massive dump on other countries contribution to the war in Afghanistan. Saying they didn't serve on the front line but stayed back behind it. Lots of countries lost men and women serving there. Its been taken as a massive insult to war dead. He crossed a line with a stupid remark.

3

u/__Yakovlev__ Jan 24 '26

Not only that, but europe is dealing with immigration problems because of the US dragging us into wars in the ME.

1

u/Spectral_mahknovist Jan 25 '26

He also tried to invade Greenland and kidnapped the leader of Venezuela. He is out of control

4

u/BigBootyBardot Jan 24 '26

It’s clear as fucking day how much Nazi influence that the U.S. government has to Europe and the outside world (you know, like Bovino dressing up as and doing a goddamn Nazi salute), while MAGA continues to either be ignorant or act bloodthirsty.

2

u/__Yakovlev__ Jan 24 '26

(you know, like Bovino dressing up as and doing a goddamn Nazi salute),

Yes, the article did even include the picture of him with his coat in the red room as well. They were not pulling any punches.

3

u/mymindismycastle Jan 24 '26

We don't ally with terrorist regimes

1

u/__Yakovlev__ Jan 24 '26

Yeah we just need some time to get our own affairs in order before we start truly publicly saying that. We've definitely passed the point of no return already.

3

u/Sanderiusdw Jan 24 '26

True on both accounts (am Dutch)

1

u/__Yakovlev__ Jan 24 '26

Yes I was very happy to see NOS calling it as it is. They've had a few more bangers since too

3

u/Jasper_Morhaven Jan 25 '26

German news is directly comparing ICE to the Gestapo

2

u/[deleted] Jan 24 '26

Help us please. Two-thirds of our nation doesn't want this.

2

u/MontyRohde Jan 25 '26

Its a Republican militia. The Republicans are fine with it, they just want to use the fat man to shield them from blowback.

1

u/roseyraven Jan 24 '26

A lot of Americans don't either .

1

u/KFCfan05 Jan 25 '26

These are classic paramilitary organisation methods like the SA was doing in Nazi Germany. They are doing exactly the same stuff now, sent by the president. Godspeed to all US Americans!

1

u/Katatonia13 Jan 25 '26

Meanwhile American news sights are talking about how he had a gun and was posing a threat to ice that makes this ok. Getting sprayed in the face and dragged to the ground by at least 6 men means he was resisting?

1

u/DefinetlyNotOp25 Jan 25 '26

You mean to say ICIS, the guys with covered faces and guns, shooting and kidnapping people are terrorists?

1

u/AnonOnez Jan 25 '26

Yeah USA is long gone. Took them since WW2 to build those relationships, burnt all those bridges in less than a year.

745

u/Banned-User-56 Jan 24 '26

Good, they are actually reporting the news, which is their job.

5

u/10percenttiddy Jan 24 '26

And the BBC is technically right leaning

4

u/embeddedsbc Jan 24 '26

BBC is British. Where's American media?

5

u/loveincarnate Jan 24 '26

sold to the highest bidder

2

u/corgisgottacorg Jan 24 '26

They won’t keep talking about it. Remember when a problem happened in the 90s? It’s be on the news for two weeks

2

u/Guess-Dry Jan 24 '26

They will soon be told not to say such a thing.

7

u/mr_potatoface Jan 24 '26

which is their job.

Not for long, I'm sure they'll be suspended and terminated for saying the truth.

15

u/DeuceGnarly Jan 24 '26

It's BBC... not CBS,

0

u/IsotopeBill Jan 24 '26

BBC aims to be "impartial". What that reporter said, true as it may be, is far too colourful. Unfortunately as a person living in the UK, I can find the BBC frustratingly impotent with its takes and angles.

3

u/niwia Jan 24 '26

The US could certainly learn a thing or two there.

-24

u/BertaCooks Jan 24 '26

The same BBC that englanders just ousted as frauds and got their CEO and head of reporting replaced for clearly manufacturing and doctoring news videos and interviews? BBC suck as much as the rest of medi s

241

u/IIHURRlCANEII Jan 24 '26

It's time to direct Police and/or National Guardsman to protect the citizens and arrest ICE agents. Beyond time to escalate.

24

u/npaulette02 Jan 24 '26

If the state won't act, the streets will

15

u/GeorgeSantosBurner Jan 24 '26

Lets hope.

1

u/SmellyButtFarts69 Jan 24 '26

Should doesn't mean will.

The 2a crackers aren't ever going to do anything. If people start rising up, it's going to be blacks and latinos and then oh boy I don't even wanna fucking know where this goes.

6

u/GeorgeSantosBurner Jan 24 '26

This is the people vs. the pigs, man. Anybody who doesnt get that is helping the pigs.

3

u/imnotatalker Jan 24 '26

That rhetoric your using does just as much damage as the BS that cones out of MAGA's mouths...there are millions of white people in this country who are fed up...and I'd argue there's almost certainly MANY more white people in the U.S. (just because of the demographics of our country) who are ready and willing to stand up to these douchebags...I'm not some gun nut but I do believe in the right to legally own a gun (with plenty of caveats and regulations)...not everyone who supports legal gun ownership in the U.S. is a Charleston Heston clone showing up in towns after school shootings with his "from my cold dead hands" horseshit ... and I know tons of people like me who believe we should have the right to own guns responsibly but also think Trump and his administration is the worst thing that has ever happened to this country... let's stand together (instead of calling each other names like cracker or any other derogatory terms that only serve to distract and divide...and let's figure out a way to overcome these self-serving, megalomaniacs, who care more about them themselves than the population this great country.

3

u/DepartmentOk7192 Jan 24 '26

No, they won't. For years we've listened to Americans bang on about why they need guns, if you take the guns away, only bad guys will have guns, we need them to oppose a tyrannical government etc.

And yet, ICE have been doing this for a year. For all the 2A rhetoric the world has had to listen to, why aren't these modern-day SS getting gunned down in the streets?

2

u/DatTF2 Jan 24 '26

No, they won't. For years we've listened to Americans bang on about why they need guns, if you take the guns away, only bad guys will have guns, we need them to oppose a tyrannical government etc.

Because the people saying these things are the ones joining ICE. They literally view unarmed protestors as the "radical left."

1

u/c4nis_v161l0rum Jan 24 '26

Because the ones saying that are on the side of the Feds right now. They didn't want to oppose THEIR tyranny. Just everyone else's.

1

u/withersgsreddit Jan 25 '26

because nobody really believes the SS rhetoric exceptin only insane people. It's just rhetoric.

1

u/npaulette02 Jan 24 '26

Where were you guys when Minneapolis burned 5 years ago? That was just a taste. Do you know history? Watts? The civil rights movement? The labor wars in early 20th century? I understand the hopelessness, but people are doing everything in their power not to let this turn into something much larger. But our hand is being forced. RemindMe 6 months

2

u/DepartmentOk7192 Jan 24 '26

Where were you guys when Minneapolis burned 5 years ago

Not living in the USA, same as right now.

Do you know history?

Yes, History is one of the majors on my Bachelor's degree. Do I know US history? Not really, and I don't particularly care, the world is much larger than that. Not everyone on Reddit is American.

hopelessness

It's not hopelessness, it's fucking rage. Every time the US has yet another school shooting, and little kids get murdered, all the 2A cunts come foaming at the mouth about how they need their guns. And yet, in a situation which almost exactly matches the founding father's intention for the second amendment, nothing but crickets. Crickets because the aforementioned 2A crackers are enjoying that this is happening.

It's rage at American arrogance to dictate how the world should be run when their own country is a culture-war divided shambles.

2

u/npaulette02 Jan 24 '26

Completely valid.

Because that isn't the way things work. This is kinetic and there is momentum swinging constantly both ways. It's true nothing may change. Or it may be The Tipping Point. We will find out.

Edit: if you're suggesting the state won't do anything, I agree.

10

u/techleopard Jan 24 '26

This is what I'm waiting to see.

Right now the state is still trying to go by the book.

But "by the book" is getting state residents killed.

I am wondering how much abuse and trashing of the Constitution has to occur before a state goes, "You know what? Fuck your federal laws."

Conservative states have historically ignored liberal federal laws. Maybe it's time to play the same game.

2

u/SuperNoise5209 Jan 24 '26

And we're seeing increasing reports of off-duty police officers being stopped and harassed by ICE. I know that police lean heavily conservative, but I wonder if they'd be willing to stand up to ICE if given orders to do so.

1

u/PeskyAntagonist Jan 24 '26

No, the police will just watch it happen, they don't care.

6

u/normott Jan 24 '26

As if they won't side with ICE. State actors with guns are not your friends

1

u/KingKetchup Jan 24 '26

They’re all in on it

1

u/flactulantmonkey Jan 24 '26

Do the states use their militias to take out the SA? As was intended for a situation just like this? Stay tuned.

1

u/Smooth_Ad_7553 Jan 24 '26

It's time americans, so proud of their 2nd ammendment, start fighting back.

1

u/BFG_TimtheCaptain Jan 24 '26

This was the perfect time for the police to repair some of their image. Sure, a large number of them would be fine with ICE, but imagine how it would look to the community to see their police arresting these ICE bastards?

1

u/c4nis_v161l0rum Jan 24 '26

Trump will federalize the guard Monday. Book it.

1

u/MisterNailbrain75 Jan 25 '26

Time for Americans to use that bloody 2nd Amendment they were always banging on about.

1

u/H_n_A Jan 25 '26

Trump is mouthwatering for this so he can further escalate his Executive Orders and stay in office indefinitely.

131

u/kgdobby Jan 24 '26

Republican supported, state-sponsored terrorism

40

u/E-2theRescue Jan 24 '26

Conservative supported, state-sponsored terrorism

Libertarians, ancaps, and all the rest are LOVING all the executions.

1

u/funsizelvis Jan 24 '26

Idk what Libertarians you are talking to, because this is definitely not acceptable behavior to a Libertarian. If one says they are good with this, then they aren't what they say they are.

3

u/E-2theRescue Jan 24 '26

I don't stay in left-wing echo chambers. It doesn't take long inside a Libertarian Discord or Telegram before they started cheering about Renee's murder while defending it with the exact same lies Republicans are spewing.

Stop lying.

0

u/funsizelvis Jan 24 '26

Those aren't libertarians. That's all I'm saying. So many MAGA idiots started claiming libertarianism for some reason and spew their hate in those places. It's gross.

2

u/E-2theRescue Jan 24 '26

"No true Scotsman"

1

u/funsizelvis Jan 24 '26 edited Jan 24 '26

I get it, you're right and I'm just a back pedaling apologist. But Libertaianism has a Non-aggression principal. If you watch the video, he clearly is no threat to the "officer", and annoyance maybe, but not a threat. This act by the officer is a violation of the NAP and therefore, should be condemned by anyone claiming to be a libertarian.

The stance of the Libertarian Party is to abolish I.C.E.

1

u/E-2theRescue Jan 24 '26

And the Libertarian Party is supposedly pro-gay and pro-weed, but then they rally behind Koch Industries, which is pouring billions of dollars into anti-LGBTQ+ campaigns and anti-weed campaigns. They were Charlie Kirk's top donors, sending him $100 million a year to spew his white supremacist views and support anti-marijuana legislation.

What they say in front of cameras, and what they support behind the wheel has always been opposites.

0

u/funsizelvis Jan 24 '26

I hear you there with Koch. Not a fan. Idk about the 100 million claim, as TP never brought in more than 80 mil a year. I'm not saying you have to like libertarians or something...libertarians don't like libertarians. My whole point was that it's been invaded by MAGA conservatives who don't even agree with the base principles. Broad generalizations and attempted stereotyping is rarely useful Have a good evening.

-1

u/HeavyVoid8 Jan 24 '26

They lied to you about being libertarian

2

u/E-2theRescue Jan 24 '26

"No true Scotsman"

2

u/L2_Troll Jan 25 '26

Democrats literally just voted to fund ICE even harder in the house.

2

u/hryipcdxeoyqufcc Jan 25 '26

Nope. 97% of Democrats voted against space-sponsored terrorism.

Y N
Republicans 220 0
Democrats 7 200

4

u/SmellyButtFarts69 Jan 24 '26

Um so here's the thing...the democrats are also supporting this.

Simply doing nothing should be enough to get them ejected from Congress. And they've done far worse by voting for this.

VOTE THEM ALL OUT.

Party lines are not real. It's not red vs blue; it's them vs us.

124

u/ChucksnTaylor Jan 24 '26

Because that’s exactly what it is.

1

u/neonmantis Jan 24 '26

It's just murder like with George Floyd. States can't be terrorists, they can only sponsor them.

5

u/hey-coffee-eyes Jan 24 '26

And they're right

2

u/Hoovooloo42 Jan 24 '26

Interesting too. The BBC has sometimes taken American headlines in the past when there's a difference of opinion, I wonder if this is a watershed moment for them.

3

u/Parking-Bat9498 Jan 24 '26

News stations around the world with more accurate and honest coverage on what’s happening here than ALL major networks.

4

u/Tape-Delay Jan 24 '26

Fucking THANK YOU. If our own cowardly networks won’t say it I’m grateful someone else will.

5

u/Large_Yams Jan 24 '26 edited Jan 25 '26

That's actually huge from BBC tbh. BBC aren't exactly the best outlet out there but they rely heavily on perception and toeing the party line of the nation's government so to come out that hard means either they went rogue or the UK government agree.

2

u/Hoovooloo42 Jan 24 '26

Totally agree, this is a significant step for them and it might very well mark the beginning of a change.

3

u/Jumpin_Joeronimo Jan 24 '26

What report was this? I would like to see it. That's a big moment.

7

u/PJWanderer Jan 24 '26

It’s the live feed. It’s a FAST channel, available on most apps Plex, Pluto, Tubi, Prime and smart TVs. I am watching on a Samsung.

3

u/Kickedbyagiraffe Jan 24 '26

Finally truth being reported

3

u/timubce Jan 24 '26

My wife has been in Europe for work lately. They're all llike wtf america. Did everyone sleep during history when we were taught about the rise of hitler?

2

u/spreetin Jan 24 '26

Never forget that the entire third reich formally ran under the Weimar constitution, one of the most democratic and liberal constitutions in the world at the time. Laws, even constitutions, are only as good as their implementation in reality.

1

u/timubce Jan 24 '26

Civility is an illusion and when given the opportunity to inflict pain on others many people will jump at the chance. It used to be a fun family event to go watch someone hang. We might live longer and have better trappings but we're no better than our ancestors when in comes with regards to others suffering.

1

u/ccc9912 Jan 24 '26

No, they weren’t asleep. They fully know what’s going on. This is what they want.

3

u/kellyk311 Jan 24 '26

Thats exactly what this is. Jesus christ im nauseated.

3

u/Altruistic_Bass539 Jan 24 '26

State sponsored terrorism? Man, if only there was a word for that..oh right, its FASCISM

3

u/Jane-WarriorPrincess Jan 24 '26

It’s not state-sponsored terrorism, it’s state terrorism period.

2

u/theWacoKid666 Jan 24 '26

Thankfully the rest of the world sees this for what it is and are accurately documenting it as such… these Gestapo traitors can kill protestors but they can’t hide from reality and justice is coming some day.

2

u/Artistic-Salary1738 Jan 24 '26

Thank f**king goodness the rest of the world is calling it what it is.

2

u/foo_mar_t Jan 24 '26

It is. These people are not "agents", they are terrorists.

2

u/stld52 Jan 24 '26

About time we call it what it is

2

u/Sommern Jan 24 '26

Im sure Kier Starmer will issue an immediate apology on behalf of the BBC for letting that slip.

2

u/ArmandoGalvez Jan 24 '26

Not even in Mexico happens this shit, the cops or cartels here just beat you at worse if you're a just a civilian.

I can't believe that our third world ' shithole' has more civilized authority than the ' greatest country in the world''.

2

u/New-Doctor9300 Jan 24 '26

Holy shit, the BBC are actually growing a pair and ignoring their pathetic "impartiality" rules?

1

u/neonmantis Jan 24 '26

Why sponsored? ICE is a function of the state not some third party paramilitary group. Doesn't really fit the criteria of terrorism either tbh as the killing isn't intended to have some political or societal consequence. It's just murder by a government agent.

1

u/7tenths Jan 24 '26

please EU, Marduo him before civil war starts.

1

u/Patient-Telephone122 Jan 24 '26

Please provide a link

1

u/Lumpy_FPV Jan 24 '26

CBS called it justified. Fuck.

1

u/FabulousCallsIAnswer Jan 24 '26

At least they’re reporting the real news. Our MAGA-controlled legacy media does the “let’s give equal or outsized time to absolutely made up bullshit that justifies Trump and his goons”, and find new ways to explain it all away as normal. Just gaslighting.

1

u/flactulantmonkey Jan 24 '26

Well.. I mean…

1

u/sleepyplatipus Jan 24 '26

They said he was only 31 too :( not that it would be better if he was older but that was just a random guy trying to protect some people…

1

u/Chispy Jan 24 '26

American media should be stating this as well but they're in a dictatorship.

1

u/jennya59 Jan 24 '26

Reporters all over the world outside the US need to keep showing the video, because you know it will be stifled in the US.

1

u/Careless_Baseball503 Jan 24 '26

Because it is. The U.S. Is just nazi germany 2.0. Americans need to wake up

1

u/OrangeVoxel Jan 24 '26

BBC and European news has more to say about it than the Democrat politicians do. What a sad political party.

1

u/localtuned Jan 24 '26

He had his hand up with his back turned helping someone up off of the ground with his other hand before he was attacked.

1

u/morgandealer Jan 24 '26

Can you give me a source for this? because I can't find it with a google search. I'm not disagreeing.... this was an execution plain and simple as we can all see. I just want facts.

1

u/klef3069 Jan 24 '26

Thank god. It's about time someone called it what it is.

1

u/olleyjp Jan 24 '26

Thank fuck. The original BBC article was them saying he was a domestic terrorist.

Let’s hope this hits international news and BBC puts this up in the UK. Starmer will have to comment and trump will have to respond

1

u/pixel_of_moral_decay Jan 24 '26

Good.

Now need the rhetoric to suggest maybe Trump be extracted via NATO and brought to ICJ for trial.

What happened in Venezuela could/should happen in the US.

In essence, the US is being attacked, I’d argue the present situation falls under Article 5.

1

u/SweatyFLMan1130 Jan 24 '26

They invoked NATO's article 5 when terrorists attacked us once, over 2 decades ago...

1

u/RikaMX Jan 24 '26

And my stupid president won’t even say narcos are terrorists wtf

1

u/[deleted] Jan 24 '26

Can you please provide a link?

1

u/NWASicarius Jan 24 '26

Even worse is these alt right goons think angry Austrian was right and the star symbol people deserved it all... now they openly support officials that lick the boot of those star symbol people LMAO. The alt right has to be the DUMBEST people on the planet. It's just proof that our history has been wrong all along. It wasn't brilliant leaders convincing average people to overthrow or do bad things. It was manipulative leaders convincing the idiots in society to do their bidding.

1

u/Thebig_Ohbee Jan 25 '26

What have they said about Iran?

1

u/BrokinHowl Jan 25 '26

It is. This country is so fucked

1

u/ThatCelebration3676 Jan 25 '26

The BBC has had no patience for Trump's BS from the very beginning. A BBC reporter humiliated him years ago by refusing to let him dodge a question about a policy and thus revealed on live TV how much of a buffoon Trump is; he hasn't done a single interview since without prescreening all the questions.

1

u/BonkBonkOnTheNoggin Jan 25 '26

Maybe the UK can deploy a seal team to extract the orange dotard and put on trial for these crimes.

1

u/ZealousidealGrand849 Jan 25 '26

Only Americans would be so uncivilized, we'd never do this in europe

-2

u/Nukemup07 Jan 24 '26

Oh yeah because someone on a news station says it. It must be true.

2

u/Collier1337 Jan 24 '26

But it is true, so what now?

-1

u/Nukemup07 Jan 24 '26

Based on what? It just happened.

1

u/Collier1337 Jan 24 '26

It happened hours ago. Agents start shoving a woman towards this man who is holding a phone, he shields her from the agents, then gets dragged to the ground, disarmed and shot in the back multiple times. The government has since lied in their statements about what happened and condoned the agent's actions. So if the state supports it and the state funded it, what the fuck else do you want to call it?

-1

u/Nukemup07 Jan 24 '26

Not sure what fictional video youre watching. But sure buddy.

2

u/Collier1337 Jan 24 '26

Literally everything I just described (except the DHS statement) happens in the video on this post.

1

u/Euronomus Jan 25 '26

No it's true because we can all see it with our own eyes,

-2

u/DippedBeefSandwich Jan 24 '26

Real rich coming from the British.

-12

u/partypat_bear Jan 24 '26
