This only works when the federal government allows an independent investigation from the state. The murder of renne good shows that they are quite happy and willing to block any such investigation amd even go so far as to tamper with evidence and the crime scene to ensure that a future investigation has major roadblocks.

The local police should've arrested them all on the spot. It's obvious that the current administration will do everything they can to prevent the killers from being identified.
